Dear St. Francis of Assisi Families,
 
By now you may have already heard that surrounding school districts have decided to close their campuses in an effort to keep all students safe.  Our primary concern at St. Francis of Assisi School is always for the well-being of our students, employees, and families. In consultation with Superintendent Dr. Erin Barisano and Bishop Kevin Vann, we will close effective immediately and transition to a distance learning plan through Easter Break.  We will resume with student contact on campus Monday, April 20, 2020. Please note: no cases of COVID-19 have been diagnosed for any teacher, staff, or student at St. Francis.

On Monday, March 16, our faculty and staff will meet with administration to finalize their preparation for this transition. On Tuesday, March 17, the school campus will be open from 7:00 am - 6:00 pm for parents to pick up any student belongings or items needed for distance learning. All classrooms will be open during this time.  We are confident that our 5 th through 8 th grade students are ready for distance learning with their 1:1 iPads.  However, to support distance learning for our 3 rd and 4 th grade students, we are temporarily issuing 1:1 iPads with signed agreements by parents.  These devices are fully equipped with filters that will protect our students off-site. They are for educational purposes only.  Early Childhood through 2 nd grade parents received a Google form today from their teachers to determine if any of these students will require a device to complete work at home.  All school distance learning will begin on Thursday, March 19, 2020 .  I will send out a detailed communication on Monday, March 16, to outline our school-wide plan for distance learning to ensure parents understand our expectations of students during this extended school closure.

While the campus is closed, all facilities will be cleaned and sanitized three times to ensure all surfaces have been cleansed.  All previously scheduled campus activity has been suspended until school resumes on campus April 20, including arrangements with outside organizations.   Administration has been working in collaboration with PAL League leadership and have determined that all athletic competitions, events, practices, and previously scheduled activities with outside organizations and clubs have been suspended until after Easter Break. Our Athletic Director may be reached by email if you have any questions.
