Executive Board Member Reports

Juliana McMahan, Chair

The KCRP Organization Meeting is on December 14. At this meetings elections will be held for the next Executive Board and members of our Legislative District Committees for the 23rd, 26th, and 35th Districts. The people who vote are the PCOs who were elected this last summer.

She spoke at the Bainbridge Island Oatmeal Club last month. They are a group of professionals that meet together on Thursday mornings, and they’re very politically astute and active. They had some complaints from their members that they didn’t have any conservative speakers, they were only having liberals come and speak. So, they invited her. It was a good experience, and she enjoyed it. She was not offended by some of the more hostile attitudes, but that’s fine, she totally expected it. She felt they had a great conversation about the differences between Republicans and Democrats.

The General Election Mailer was sent out to 31,824 households (~51,000 voters). Over 10,300 of those were sent out by 54 volunteers and PCOs from Kitsap County! She received a lot of positive feedback about the sample ballot format. Six other counties copied us and did their own versions of our sample ballot.

After Election Day we need to pick up Republican campaign signs. The law says that candidates have 10 days after election day to pick up their signs. We want our signs to stand out—by disappearing. If you are able, please stop and grab Republican signs. You can drop them off at the KCRP office through December 2.

Elizabeth Doll, State Committeewoman

The special speaker at the Roanoke Conference will be Colin Hughes. He’s just 28 years old and a brilliant, black, sort of right leaning person. He wrote a great book entitled, The End of Race Politics, which argues against anti-racism. He has an incredible podcast “Conversations with Coleman”. He went to Julliard to be a jazz musician and then dropped out to pursue philosophy at Columbia instead. You should register soon if you want to attend.

Linda Popp, Secretary

She has been reflecting on the last two years of being on the board and the tremendous growth that’s happened. She’s very excited and so thankful for the volunteers and candidates that have stepped forward. It just makes you want to try harder for them, because there’s so much energy and passion. I’ve been very privileged to be here, to help where I could help, and I’m looking forward to (in whatever capacity she's needed) to help again to continue into the next year.

She feels that we’ll have a totally different mindset about our candidates in the future. We’re going to work on perpetuating the things that we learned, and in helping candidates in the future be successful. She feels it’s just going to get better and better as we get smarter about all the aspects of campaigning.

Jamie Miles, Bainbridge Island

Thanks to everyone for their efforts to get-out-the-vote!

John Johanson, Bremerton & Candidate Resources Committee Chair

If you live in Bremerton, please talk to him. They have a little meet up at Ridgeline Brewery at least once a month. Thanks to Adrian Wright for starting it.

If you’re not familiar with BKAT television program (Bremerton Kitsap Access Television), they had Judge Tracy Flood on a show. It was a puff piece, local propaganda, which was praising her up for all the good diversity, equity, and inclusion that she’s done for the community. They didn’t address any of the issues. It’s pretty interesting seeing the propaganda machine working right here locally.

He’s been with KCRP for 4-5 years now, and he’s very happy with the progress that he sees being made. He thinks we’re stronger now than at any point that he’s been associated with the organization. He wanted to thank everyone for their participation, all the effort you’ve put into helping get our candidates elected.

Francis Doyle, South Kitsap & Election Integrity Committee Chair

Wholehearted thanks to all the people who stepped up and ran for positions in our county. He’s praying to God that the outcome will be in their favor. He has been monitoring the elections daily.

The SK School Board needs to take a different course in their handling of disciplinary actions in schools. The state is also planning to impose a new grading system on every district. It’s more favorable for those who don’t perform well. It’s kind of sad.

Jessica Rice, Kitsap County Field Director

Wow! What a crazy year!! We were uncertain about how things would go in our state and our country, but we saw the momentum building and then election night did not disappoint. We can rest easy knowing that the White House will once again have a man whose heart is with the American people. That is very promising for our future. It is so exciting to watch him announce his cabinet!

Although our state races did not get filled with Republicans, we had four local races that did: Michelle Caldier (26th LD Position 2), Oran Root (Commissioner District 2), Dan Griffey (35th LD Position 1), and Travis Couture (35th LD Position 2). We are proud and excited for them! They will need our support in the coming years, and we are hoping to gather volunteers to help.

Out of the four initiative measures one passed: I-2066 to repeal the natural gas ban! This is a huge victory for WA businesses and families. That law would have cost taxpayers millions of dollars. We should be very proud. We put in the work and it paid off. It gives us more than just a victory, it gives us hope.

This lesson of hard work and unity across the state is something to analyze and infuse into our strategic plan for the future. It shows that we can win if we work together! First steps are to analyze what we have done and what we can do better in the next few months and years. We need to build on this momentum of hope for the citizens of Washington state.

We need men and women who are willing to give up their time now for something better in their future. There is no time to lick our wounds or have fear, we must get to work! We must have the confidence that we will see Kitsap County turn Republican, and it will be because of you. You gain strength, courage, and confidence by doing something that you think you cannot do. We can do this!

We have a fun event coming up to celebrate our wonderful conservative community and give back to the families that need some love this holiday season. On Monday, December 2 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. We are holding our Annual Christmas Party Potluck and Toy Drive at the KCRP Office. Bring your favorite dish or dessert to share. We are collecting unwrapped toys. If you can't attend, you can drop off your toy donations at the office on Monday, December 2 from 9am-8pm. We are donating to the Kitsap Rescue Mission. Attire is casual but there is an option to wear an ugly sweater and get put into a drawing for a cool prize. Families are welcome!

Thoughts and stray input

It is not written in the stars that I will always understand what is going on-- a truism that I often find damnably annoying. -- Robert Heinlein

Clipped concerning celebs quitting X: "They’re not leaving because they’re being silenced. They’re leaving because their enemies aren’t." "If free speech hurts your cause, maybe you’re not the good guys."

Everyone in KCRP-land was relieved when Mr. Trump tipped over the 270 electoral votes and won the presidency for the next four years. Now it is up to us Republicans to do two things. First, reach across the aisle and try to make sense of the set-backs of the past four years. Second, prepare our party for the next four years. It is easy to become complacent and allow our ideals to slip away from us. If you want to look up a specific race to see how the election turned out, the links are below. We still have a lot of work to do!

Fifteen of Mr. Trump's appointments are "secretaries" of his official Cabinet and will require approval from Congress. Research them for yourself, do your homework, and write your representatives to let them know your opinion.

As always, the most interesting appointments are those which are termed "czars" or staff, and are not subject to approval by Congress. In this, many think the Executive Branch has gained far too much power in our federal government.

Musk mused about buying the liberal news network in another post on Friday, stating, "MSNBC is going up for sale. Should I buy it? I would like to fire Rachel Maddow (for fun) and then turn it into a channel that reports the top stories from X each day. Citizen reporting on cable news!"

To quote Groucho Marx "Any questions? Any answers?"

Title IX is still as it is, a national LAW .... boys are allowed to get naked in girl's locker rooms and rest rooms, and that is across the nation. Until we get this law changed, we hope that Moms for Liberty and the Lady Republicans of Kitsap (and all their affiliates) will continue to put pressure on school boards and lawmakers, to get those with a Y chromosome (biological men) out of women's sports and protect our young girls. This cannot change soon enough.

Make America Healthy Again: At the Kitsap County Commissioner's Meeting on November 25, 2024, they discussed a lot of details about Parks and Recreation in the County and how your tax money is being spent. It is a good idea to attend these meetings to stay informed about what our commissioners are doing!

The Green Hustle: Spring 1794: As per the novel Crockett of Tennessee (by Cameron Judd) people of that time and place, suffered a terrible loss by what was quaintly termed in those days "Noah's freshet," that is massive rainfall in Greene County, Tennessee. This historic event appears to be rainfall on the same order as the recent flooding from Hurricane Helene.

Winter is a great time to be inside, warm and toasty with a good book!!! Many excellent and pertinent books are in focus right now:

Decades of Decadence by Marco Rubio (2023) -- OUR NEXT SECRETARY OF STATE! This is a difficult book to "get into" but once you do, things start to make sense. Mostly it involves our economic system which is rapidly dissolving (like sand under our feet), and how it got to this point. The book goes back decades in our banking, and foreign policy and how we have allowed our manufacturing sector to move offshore, and what a danger that is to our security, national defense and livelihoods. Especially horrifying is how our banking systems make money shifting loans (education, housing, land) from one pot of money to the other, and scoop off profit at each stage. Mr. Rubio is incredibly intelligent and knowledgeable, it is a MUST for anyone interested in what our economy IS and how he plans to straighten it out. Interesting detail: Both Mr. Trump and his wife seem enthused by Bitcoin.

★★★★★

Melania (our returning First Lady's autobiography) -- GREAT book, takes a bit to get into it, but it "gathers steam." Melania was an architecture student in Slovenia prior to being a model, which is why she and Trump hit it off. She isn't a drinker, and neither is her husband. Melania has supervised the First Residence’s renovation of the Queen's Bedroom, the Red Room, the Rose Garden, and built a tennis shed. She fixed several other spots in the White House which were run down a bit. (The White House has over a 100 rooms!) She spoke highly of her (female) architects whom she worked with, and praised their historical design principles; our country owes her a debt of gratitude for the superb restoration of the various bits of the White House. She was diplomatic, but apparently many presidents' wives (since Jackie Kennedy remodeled) have not bothered to do anything to the First Residence. Mrs. Trump also works with foster kids and gave some sobering statistics I've never heard before: only 50% of foster children finish high school. Only 3% of them who have been through that system attain college degrees. Twenty percent of them will become homeless after aging out of the foster care system. Only half of them will have gainful employment by the age of 24. Excellent book, historical, and full of grace. I recommend it for anyone needing a gift for a Republican on your Christmas list.

★★★★★

Above the Law by Matt Whittaker (2020) -- Soon to be our Ambassador to NATO and former acting US Attorney General as well as other posts in the 2016 Trump Administration. He seems to be a really nice, intelligent guy in interviews; Mr. Trump plainly thinks he is reliable. His book is impressive, fairly easy reading, and outlines the arrogant behavior of the Left and Biden administration in the continuing "lawfare" against anyone who defies the Left agenda. Read it at your own peril, you will simply get angry all over again about things which happened four-plus years ago and were soundly debunked. We need books like this, to maintain a public record of what DID happen, and not let the legal atrocities and maliciousness be swept under the rug.

From Bremerton: There is a new tree on the campus of Kitsap Lake Elementary, a Moon Tree named "Leto." Leto is a Douglas Fir that was grown from a seed that orbited the moon during NASA's Artemis I mission in the winter of 2022! The Artemis I mission sent the Orion spacecraft containing 1,000 seeds from five different North American tree species orbiting the moon reaching as far as 270,000 miles from Earth. NASA's Office of STEM Engagement and the USDA Forest Service reviewed more than 1,300 applications from museums, schools, universities, and federal agencies and chose Kitsap Lake as one of the recipients of a Douglas Fir sapling. Leto was planted in Kitsap Lake's Bus Loop Island by the 2024-2025 Highly Capable students last week, where it can inspire and be enjoyed by the whole community. Because the Artemis missions will eventually put the first woman on the moon, the students chose to give our tree the name "Leto," the mother of the Greek goddess Artemis.
