When you participate in the CSM Annual Appeal, you support the life and mission of the Church and its community service outreach programs. You elevate our community and the SAKLC growth program. You promote efforts to eradicate hunger and the devastating effects of poverty and addiction, to promote respect for life and alleviate suffering around our community. Christian Education Class Series: Eighth-Day Discipleship: A New Vision for Faith, Work & Economics with Richard H. Bliese
Take the Class. Meet the Author.
Grow in Discipleship.
|
|
Richard H. Bliese in his book, and in this class, “draws on the historic architecture of eight-sided churches to call attention to an important but often overlooked emphasis on the eighth day of creation. Early Christians were focused on God's new creation that began in Christ's resurrection on Sunday, the first day of the week. But these Christians understood resurrection as the continuation of God's creative and redemptive activity. So the first day of the week became the eighth day of creation, and therefore the day of resurrection work and time to join with Christ in transforming the world. Christian disciples do this work by living out their baptismal vocations, especially in their daily work and through their ethical economic choices.”
|
|
When: Tuesdays, for six weeks, February 21-March 28, 2-3:30pm.
Preparation: Purchase and begin to read Richard’s book, ISBN 978-1506478838, available on Amazon.
View our website for more information, to join the livestream via Zoom, and to sign up to attend these classes by clicking the link below or by visiting www.saklc.com/online-christian-education/.

What happened to all the books? …… GLAD YOU ASKED! Those of you who enjoy having a book to hold may be glad to know that a library still exists here at SAKLC. Although quite a bit smaller, it has many wonderful books and DVDs for your reading pleasure. Due to the renovation of Ogram Hall, many of the books were removed and our library is now located in the Ogram Hall Conference Room. The “Library Shelf List” has been updated, and you will find the white binder on a shelf next to a sign which explains the easy checkout and return procedures. So now you may be wondering what happened to the other books? While most of them went to a couple of charitable organizations, there are many that might be of interest to you. These books will be displayed on a book cart in Fellowship Hall for a donation to help fund our Community Service Ministry (CSM).
Are You Doing Spring Cleaning? Help Your Old Books Find a New Home!
We will accept any of your unwanted books for the book cart. (We prefer more recent books in good condition).
If you have any questions, please call Jackie Whalen (941-387-8001) or the church office (941-388-1234).
THANK YOU!

We have an active church kitchen. Between Sunday fellowship, CSM cooking programs, and the special events we host/facilitate, our kitchen - happily - gets used a lot. This results in a lot of washing and drying. To this end, we are in need of good, clean dish towels. If you're starting to do some spring cleaning and need to thin out kitchen towels, please consider sending some into the church office for our kitchen! Thanks!
