Prince William County is very lucky to have several early records of deeds and wills online at Prince William Circuit Court.
Deeds
To see an entry sheet to the actual deeds and loose records available at the Prince William County Courthouse, visit https://www4.pwcva.gov/Web/user/disclaimer and follow the instructions below. You do not need an account to search. Remember, Prince William County had a considerable record loss in deeds during the Civil War.
At the bottom of the disclaimer page, click on the CAPTCHA box confirming you are not a robot and then click the "I Accept" button to accept the terms. Click on "Historic Document Search" to search for deeds before 1918 and Loose Records. To search by name, enter a “Party Name,” which is the Last Name and First Name of a principal in the document. The search results will show the deeds available for this entry. You may need to click twice to get the list. From the list found, click on the record that interests you. You will see the actual deed as it is in the Deed Book.
If you have only a Deed Book and Page, enter that in the form to show a chronological index with the names of principals and the beginning page number. Use this page number.
Also, look at the Loose Records. They deal with many subjects, including delinquent taxes, road orders, destroyed deeds rerecorded, and more.
