A Prayer Request

Please join me in praying for some kind of comfort for the family of a dear friend of Texas and the Republican Party, Grace Jones. She leaves behind many loving friends and family but please share a special prayer for her children who are now having to cope with an unbelievable tragedy. 

 

Grace was an activist who lived her beliefs. She was a very active leader in TFRW and served as SREC member for District 20. And honestly that is putting it very lightly. Her volunteer positions are numerous and she served our party at every level. 

We practically beg young people to get involved - get involved in the community, get involved in politics and policy making. Grace answered that call and went above and beyond. She will be dearly missed.

With the upcoming special session we are sure to have a lot of legislative updates. I look forward to working with you all and helping empower the grassroots with actionable information. Stay tuned!

Cartel Invasion in East Texas?

As I mentioned, it is widely expected that Governor Abbott is going to call a special session next month to deal with a myriad of issues. Per Texas law, the call for a session must include specific items so we will know soon enough. But in the meantime, the Governor dropped a huge hint about an issue that I know many of you have been following. 

The Governor was asked about the Colony Ridge development near Plum Grove, TX just northeast of Houston along I-69. This community caters to illegal immigrants who might not otherwise be able to get the kinds of housing financing that would require legal status. There are even reports of drug cartels taking advantage of the influx of illegal immigrants and setting up safe houses in the area. Just this weekend the SREC passed a resolution calling for action on this urgent issue. 



As the Governor puts together the special session call he has signaled that he is open to adding any items that may be necessary to deal with this type of exploitation and threat to our state.

The Republican presidential primary is now in full gear, following our grand kickoff in Milwaukee last month! The excitement will only continue building as we close in on our second debate at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, CA. I’m looking forward to hearing our candidates continue to outline their vision for America, and how we will defeat Joe Biden and the Democrats next year! This election is absolutely critical for our party and our country, and your engagement is critical to our success.

Since launching the RNC’s Bank Your Vote initiative earlier this year, we’ve received overwhelming support from presidential candidates, elected officials, state leaders, and grassroots supporters. With everyone partnering in this effort, we will be even more effective in turning out voters for Republican candidates all across the country.

Your support was on full display during our first presidential primary debate in Milwaukee. Republican leaders nationwide gathered with friends, neighbors, and fellow conservatives to hold over 400 watch parties for the debate! I cannot tell you how thrilled I was to see this engagement nationwide! Let's maintain this unity and momentum as we work towards securing a better future for America by electing Republicans up and down the ballot this November and next year!

Thank you to all those who participated in the inaugural Grassroots Challenge by hosting debate watch parties and sending in photos. Your engagement and enthusiasm are the driving force behind our successes for 2024.

Our work continues as the second presidential primary debate is upon us! Don’t forget to keep the spirit alive by organizing watch party events in your community. To assist you, our dedicated RNC Political team has crafted a comprehensive Debate Watch Party Toolkit.

Republican officials across the country have been sharing videos with their support of Bank Your Vote. This month, we are working with members of the 168, and grassroots leaders to launch our Bank Your Vote Leadership Teams. So far, we have announced leadership teams in California, Nevada, Ohio, and Wisconsin. We have also launched individualized bankyourvote.com websites for each state where voters can find state-specific information and resources around pre-Election Day voting. We are asking every state party to share their own Bank Your Vote video across platforms. RNC State Party Strategies (SPS) is thrilled to announce the upcoming National County Chair Fly-In next month in Kansas City, MO! This will be the second time the RNC has held a national training for county chairs, and we’ve been overwhelmed by the response. With nearly 90 county chairs from across the nation set to attend, we're gearing up for an informative, productive, and exciting few days! We cannot wait to welcome these local leaders to Kansas City, and better equip them with the tools they need to be successful in 2024!

In addition to the National County Chair Fly-In, the SPS team is excited to announce the final leg of this year's RNC Regional Fly-ins. Our final fly-in will take place in Biloxi, MS, from November 13– 15 with both RNC members and county chairs from the South. Stay tuned for more information as we prepare for this eventful gathering.

Alongside the highly anticipated first Republican primary debate, the RNC hosted its annual 2023 Summer Meeting in Milwaukee. Following the debate, members of the 168 had the opportunity to convene and engage with their respective committees. The members voted in favor of hosting the 2028 Republican National Convention in Houston, TX. Chairwoman McDaniel expressed that the convention would highlight the excellence of Houston, Texas, and the Republican Party.

During Summer Meeting, RNC members made significant strides by adopting six new resolutions. These resolutions not only signify the party's commitment to shaping its future direction and initiatives but also serve as a testament to our dedication in countering the misleading narratives put forth by Joe Biden and the left. Your engagement and curiosity in these resolutions are vital in strengthening our ability to combat against falsehoods and advance our party's vision.

State Jobs Report

With more and more Americans losing faith in Biden, Republican leaders are proving how our commonsense, pro-jobs agenda works for the American people.

What you need to know:

• Republican governors and state legislatures lead the way over Democrats in job creation and economic recovery.
• In spite of Bidenomics, Republican-led states are providing economic relief to families who are burdened by Bidenomics’ falling real wages, out-of-control spending, and skyrocketing costs.
• The latest state jobs report shows that 8 of the top 10 states for jobs recovered since the coronavirus pandemic began are led by Republican governors, and all 10 states have Republican-controlled legislatures.
• Out of the top 11 states with the lowest unemployment rates, 9 are led by Republican governors.

The bottom line:

Republicans across the country are delivering for the American people, following through on their commitment to deliver economic relief. 

Biden's Border Crisis

Joe Biden once again owns the worst year at the border on record, after breaking the previous record set last year.

What you need to know:

• New data shows 232,972 illegal immigrants were encountered attempting to cross the U.S.-Mexico border in August – a 27% increase in crossings from previous month and the highest total for August in DHS history.
• For 30 straight months, monthly encounters have been higher than even the highest month seen under the previous administration.
• With roughly 7,500 daily encounters, this dwarfs the definition of a "crisis" set by Obama's DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson when he said in 2019 that "more than 1,000" encounters a day "overwhelms the system."
• Joe Biden once again owns the worst year at the border on record, after breaking the previous record set last year.
• FY2023 saw 2,388,000 illegal crossings, not including “gotaways.”
• The Administration refuses to acknowledge this is a crisis that is impacting all communities.
• More than 7.5 million illegal immigrants have crossed the border since Biden took office.
• This includes the 6 million illegal immigrants that Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has encountered and the more than 1.5 million gotaways that have escaped past Border Patrol into the U.S.
• Border officials say that the official number of gotaways vastly undercounts the illegal immigrants who make it into the U.S.
• Illicit drugs are flowing into the country at an alarming rate, with only 5 to 10% being intercepted as border officials struggle to contain the smuggling.
• 1,773 pounds of deadly fentanyl and 11,505 pounds of methamphetamine were seized at the southern border in August alone, with much more getting through.
• The amount of fentanyl seized in August is the equivalent of more than 402 million lethal doses.
• Since Biden took office, more than 23 tons of fentanyl have crossed the southern border, enough to kill roughly 10.5 billion people.

The bottom line:

This is the worst border crisis on record, and it has lasted for 30 months. Biden’s policies are directly to blame – border experts and people crossing the border themselves have said as much. Yet, Democrats insist Biden’s policies are working.
