Diocesan Administrators Retreat

On Thursday afternoon and on Friday, all of the school administrators of the Diocese of Columbus will gather for their annual retreat. Please hold our administrators in your family's prayers and please pray this special prayer for them. This retreat is a time of reflection and renewal as they grow in their faith and spend time with the Lord in prayer, renewed in their ministry of service for Jesus though Catholic school leadership.

Stallions in the Spotlight

Students celebrated Constitution Day last week in Mrs. Mascarin’s AP US History and AP Government and Politics classes. They enjoyed patriotic popsicles and a party in the USA!

After a beautiful All-School Mass last Friday, we were honored to welcome Ms. Rachel Muha, founder of The Brian Muha Foundation and The Run The Race Club, to speak to our community. Her powerful message about forgiveness and mercy deeply moved all of us. Pictured is Ms. Muha with members of the SFD Run the Race Club.

Last weekend, seniors Lincoln Shulaw and Andrew Barford and sophomores Joel Welch and Blake Eckelbarger competed in the Columbus Day Duals, a two day national wrestling tournament held in Manheim, PA. This tournament included 64 high school team wrestlers, representing more than 40 states. Lincoln, Andrew, Joel, and Blake wrestled on Team 922, an Ohio-based national team. The team placed 4th overall with a tournament record of 7-2. These young men represented with great character, discipline, and sportsmanship, both on and off the mat.

Congratulations to our Freshman Class Student Council Representatives: Kaitlyn Bitter, Marckdalie Exume, Jessica Gebhart, Malorie Hopson, Daniel Jones, Thomas Jones, Evan Lee, Griffin Lynch, Patrick McCurdy, Finn Murphy, Seniya Patridge, Tania Soto, Aubrey Stiers, Joanna Tegeler, and Matthew Thomas.

Seniors Eunice Otu-Danquah and Aylin Mai, and sophomores Afia Oduro anf Faith Fekru traveled to New Jersey this past weekend with Sr. Nicole and Mrs. Mitevski for the Salesian Youth Provincial Council. Along with students from four other high schools, they shared with Mother Chiara, Mother General of the Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians/Salesian Sisters of St. John Bosco, about how young people in the U.S. are challenged to live their faith in a world with conflicting messages. Mother Chiara provided thoughtful encouragement, and reassured the students that they are actually surrounded by many people who have walked the same path before them.

Junior Cindy Li was selected to be a BigFuture Ambassador by the CollegeBoard. In this role Cindy will share free career and college resources with her peers, and help connect them with nonprofit colleges and scholarship providers.

Two Stallions are being recognized this week by the Columbus Dispatch. Junior Jonathan Brown is up for Athlete of the Week, and his classmate Rosie Maldonado, is up for Student of the Week. Please take a moment to vote for them today!

Spiritual Reflection

Heavenly Father, in baptism, you enkindled in our hearts the light of Jesus Christ, your Son. Inflame that light in our lives that it may illumine all that we see, think, and do. May our lives shine brightly with your light, and may we bring its radiance into the lives of all we encounter. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
