Historically, September is the worst-performing month of the year in equity markets. It is clear

that the norm is not hindered. October is likely to see more volatility and the the economy and its current strengths will be worth monitoring for the rest of this year. There are clouds right now, and as always,

Will's Top Ten: Thoughts On a Trip With Your Brothers

I think birth order is more permanent than a birthmark.
We spend twice as much time thinking about what we will be eating than actually eating.
A road trip at this age feels like a saunter rather than a race it used to be to get together. The stops move slowly as I unwind my stiffness in the parking lot.
New jokes show up as often as old ones get retold and they all still stay fresh to us.
I know I will get several song and movie recommendations that I can bank on with 100 percent confidence.
I get to talk about sports as much as I want, and unlike my family, all of us will be interested.
We all love to hear about our kids and we are amazed at how great we think they all are.
When a memory shared by one has been forgotten by the others, we all are brought back with a little bounce of joy in the recollection.
The dose of humility from brothers calling you out is more effective than from anywhere else.
The dose of support from brothers is fierce and uncompromising and shows up exactly when you need it.

Kurt tries Pickleball...and likes it!

This summer, I tried pickleball for the first time.

I actually loved the game. It made me move, but not too much, like tennis. I was able to drag my sons and a family friend to a court that is near our home, but wow, our city needs to build more courts; they are busy! Now that summer is winding down, we will have to find our indoor place to play. Hopefully, there are more indoor facilities within our area! Just goes to show you, the game of pickleball is for all ages.

Heidi's unexpected trip

ends in gratitude!

A September motorcycle trip to Park City, Utah, turned into an unexpected journey for Hazel and me when my husband had a mountain bike accident and broke his elbow and wrist. I immediately organized an Uber to take him to the emergency room and embarked on a road trip to bring him and his motorcycle back home. We left at 3:30 a.m. on Friday and along the way, we encountered good Samaritans who offered their help. Despite the unfortunate incident, I am grateful for the positive experience, the beautiful country I had never seen, arriving home safely late Sunday afternoon,

and the kindness shown to us during the

2400-mile road trip.
