Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion!

    Shout, Daughter Jerusalem!

See, your king comes to you,

    righteous and victorious,

lowly and riding on a donkey,

on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

Zechariah 9:9

Jewish Kings rode toward their thrones on donkeys. Read 1 Kings 1:33 and you will hear David’s command for Solomon, his son, to ride a donkey toward his throne. Throughout scripture, we also see the importance of unblemished or fresh animals. Jesus rides a donkey, (never ridden before) toward his throne. But this throne is different. The throne Jesus rides towards is one with nails, splinters, and a sign declaring who he is. Jesus rides towards the cross.

The King of King and Lord of Lords rides past the people shouting, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” (Hosanna means “Save us!”) “Save us!” We shout the same, “Save us from sickness!” We say, “Save us from the tyranny of hate!” We cry, “Save us from other countries!” But Jesus would not save the shouting people from the tyranny of the Romans, and he might not save us from the things we always ask for. Remarkably, our Lord Jesus did save them and us from something much greater- the tyranny of death. Jesus died on the cross for all those people along that dusty street outside of Jerusalem, and he died for you who still cry out today. “Save us!”

Your King still comes to you in His word and His holy supper. See you Sunday as Holy Week begins, and we wave palms worshiping our Savior.

I can’t wait!

Pastor Austin

The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

Getting to know the people of Grace Fellowship

Meet David & Celena Carle

and their kids, Tayah, Camden, & Tenley

The Carle family is a fun family to know in the valley, always smiling, chatting, and laughing with those around them. They love to be involved in the school and sports community with their kids, including softball, baseball, football, basketball, and dance. They love to serve at Grace Fellowship in a number of our children's and youth ministries and Dave is an excellent reader of the Word.

How long have you lived in the valley?

We have lived here 4.5 years. We lived in Indio, California, and Lahaina, Hawaii.

What do you and your family like to do in your spare time?

We like to have movie nights, game nights, and many of our days are spent at our kids' sports events.

What is something fun you can share about your family that we might not already know?

Tayah and Camden were both born in Hawaii with a nice ocean view. Tenley was born in California. Their personalities match where they were born.

Prayers

LORD JESUS, HEAL OUR LAND, OUR BODIES, AND OUR HEARTS.

Please pray for. . .

  • those affected by the Covenant School shooting in Nashville, TN, and at East High School this past week. Lord, please comfort them as only You can. Build a hedge of protection around the innocent all around the world.

  • those in the South affected by the tornadoes that have ravaged their homes and towns, and have taken many lives. Provide for them during this awful time and surround them with your love.

  • Ryan, a little boy who is suffering from a terminal disease and is in the hospital. Ryan is the son of Lynda's niece. May his little body be made whole again, his family be surrounded by loved ones for strength, and the loving arms of Jesus be wrapped around them during this difficult time.

  • Mark VanSoosten, who is in the middle of pancreatic cancer treatments. Lift him up for relief from side effects and his wife, Carol, for strength and comfort as she cares for her husband.

  • our hearts and minds to be changed this Lenten season. Search our hearts, O God, and remind us that we are in need of your love and grace. "My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever." Psalm 73:26

  • Carol Proffitt, who has been sick and is homebound, and her daughter Pam who is caring for her. Grant them peace and comfort.

  • everyone in our congregation and their families who are dealing with the pains and trials of cancer and other illnesses including Todd Purse; Connie Kerr; Keith; Chris; Sharon Hlavinka; Rance Ketterling; Darlee, Amanda; Jerry Wiisanen; Rosemarie; April; Suzanne, Mary's sister-in-law; Bonnie Lamotta; Mark Von Soosten, and Aaron.
