Principal Notes

Dear Parents,

Next Tuesday, March 14, at 6:30 pm, we are hosting an online Town Hall meeting. We invite all parents to join us as we review tuition, the budget, curriculum, and facilities. The link for the meeting is here.

The teachers and I have spent the last few months working on our accreditation document which will be submitted for approval to our accrediting agency for renewal at the beginning of the next school year. Attached here you will find a parent survey that will help us as we prepare for renewal. In the next few months we will be asking the students to complete surveys as well. All of the data gathered helps us prepare and plan as we set goals for the next six years. We appreciate you taking the time to help us out.

Finally, a few months ago we began the student volunteers program for the 9 am Sunday Family Mass. We are asking students in grades 4 through 8 to help out by being lectors, greeters, and ushers. Since our students are at mass anyway, this is a beautiful way for them to serve the parish. I hope that you will consider having your child help out. Here is the sign up to volunteer.

Thank you and have a wonderful week,

Jennifer

Advancement

Fr. Joe Moniz St. Philip the Apostle Educational Fund

Fr. Joe served St. Philip the Apostle Parish for 20 years as our pastor. To honor his legacy of supporting Catholic education, we established an endowment in his name at the Catholic Community Foundation of Los Angeles to support tuition assistance and the educational needs of all St. Philip the Apostle School students. As this fund grows, our school will greatly benefit from financial stability in the future years.

During this year's Red Tie Benefit on March 25th, you will be able to contribute to this fund. We understand that not everyone is in a position to donate, but we greatly appreciate your prayers that this fund continues to receive support. You can also donate today by mailing a check to the school office or by going here.

Blessed are the Children

Thank you to all those who have pledged to this year’s Blessed Are the Children annual giving campaign! All donations go towards filling the gap of what it costs to educate each child and what we charge in tuition. This year, the gap is $1500 per student and we have a goal of raising $365,000. Your contributions to this campaign will go towards ensuring your child(ren) receives an outstanding Catholic education.

For those who have pledged a Gift of Prayer, and to all our parents, we ask that you continuously keep us in your prayers so that we meet our goal of $365,000.

“Eternal God, You are worthy to be praised because You are able to bless others abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that they need, they will abound in every good work! I thank You in advance for blessing Your children and uplifting them, for in doing so their time on earth has become more endurable. I thank You for being gracious to Your people by allowing them to experience joy in You, Amen.”

2 Corinthians 9:8

If you have any questions or still need to make a pledge, please contact Tricia Ortega at tortega@stphiliptheapostle.org.

PTO Educational Series, March 8 at 6:00 PM via Zoom

Please join Transformational Coach, Emma Whittard, for "Please Put On Your Own Oxygen Mask Before Helping Others . . . Resourcing Yourself as a Parent and Why it Matters"

This is an interactive Zoom workshop. You will examine what "resourcing yourself" really means, why it is important for you and for your children and how to get the resources you need to be the best parent you can be. Over an hour you will discover what you most need in your life, that isn't already there, and what you can do to incorporate it into your daily routine. We will also uncover your blocks to making these changes and work to remove them. There will be the opportunity for sharing and spot coaching on the zoom, but you do not need to share unless you feel that you would like to do so.

Emma Whittard is a SPA School parent and a heart-centered coach, dedicated to empowering women to live balanced, happy, purposeful lives by being entirely themselves. She is a member of the Association of Coaching and holds a Master Awaken Your Life Coach accreditation and a coaching certification from Integrative Wellness Academy. Find out more at www.emmawhittard.com.Space is limited.

Please email Ana Shephard, ashephard0827@gmail.com, to register by March 6th.

Reminders

Sunday Mass Student Volunteers

St. Philip the Apostle School is proud to be the largest ministry of St. Philip the Apostle Parish. As the largest active ministry of the parish, our students have been invited to have a regular, active role in our Sunday 9:00 AM Mass. Students in grades 4th-8th have been invited to be the Lectors for the first reading and to be greeters and ushers during the mass. We feel this is a wonderful opportunity for our students to experience being active participants in our Parish Mass.

Click here for Sign Up Genius link. We would like to ensure that every 9:00 AM mass has our students participation.

Please note - families will be expected to attend the mass with the student. When you sign up, you will receive a confirmation email with instructions. Students who sign up will practice during the week before their scheduled mass.

Thank you and we look forward to having an active presence at the 9:00 AM Liturgy!

2023-24 School Year Calendar Snapshot

Please mark your calendars! Meet the Teacher Day will be on August 22, 2023. You can find a snapshot of the 2023-24 school year calendar here

Tardies and early pick ups

If your child is late because of a doctor or dental appointment, please bring a note to the office from the professional for an excused tardy.

If you pick up your child early, please sign them out at the front desk. If someone other than the parent picks up a child during the school day, we need a note signed and dated by a parent giving that adult permission to take the child out early. This is the case even if they are on the carpool and/or the emergency list. Thank you for understanding that this is to keep your child safe!

Reporting Absences

When reporting your child out, please state the reason for the absence. Thank you for being a partner in keeping everyone safe!

You can report your attendance to Karen Conley at kcconley@stphiliptheapostle.org.
