Our Jazz Series features some of the industry’s most talented and award-winning jazz musicians. We've curated a lineup of incredible artists who will transport you to a world of smooth melodies and soulful rhythms!
After the success of the sold-out Hilario Duran Trio concert earlier this month, Villa Charities and Istituto Italiano di Cultura Toronto, with the support of Davies Spina Falquez LLP invite you to the next concert in the series, the Fabrizio Mocata Trio.
Sicilian-born Fabrizio Mocata is a pianist, composer, and a graduate of the L. Cherubini Conservatory in Florence in classical and jazz performance. He is joined by acclaimed double bass player and composer Gianmarco Scaglia, and seven-time Grammy Award-winning drummer Paul Wertico. Together, the trio will take you through their original compositions, including special versions of Puccini’s and Verdi’s famous arias.
This highly anticipated evening is a not-to-be-missed opportunity for all jazz music lovers to hear these musicians perform LIVE at the Columbus Centre. Get your tickets now before they sell out!

Villa Charities Italian Canadian Immigrant Tribute
#TributeThursday – Donor Spotlight
It’s #TributeThursday, where we feature the inspirational immigrant histories from the Villa Charities Italian Canadian Immigrant Tribute Project. This week, we're sharing the story of Salvatore Valela and Filomena Valela (LaCaria), who immigrated from Calabria in 1951 and 1957 respectively.
“The immigration story of Salvatore and Filomena Valela is one of hard work, sacrifice and love. After marrying on New Year’s Eve of 1950 in Simbario, Vibo Valentia, Salvatore and Filomena knew they wanted a better life for themselves and their future children.
Salvatore immigrated to Canada in 1951 (…). Though he only made 90 cents an hour, Salvatore saved and sent money back to Filomena and their daughter (…). In 1957, Filomena and their eldest daughter immigrated to Canada and lived in Elliot Lake before making their final move to Toronto." (Continue reading...)
The journey of Salvatore and Filomena Valela is just one of the many incredible family histories that are celebrated through the Villa Charities Italian Canadian Immigrant Tribute Project. Read their full story on our Immigrant Map and explore other immigrant experiences.
