Feel free to share this webinar opportunity with your members too! Speaker Bio: Christine Cheng serves as Executive Director of Secure Choice for the Illinois State Treasurer’s Office. The Maddog Strong Foundation Collaborates with Illinois Secretary of State’s Organ and Tissue Donor Program to Launch LEAD Initiative for Teens
The Maddog Strong Foundation, a federally designated non-profit that educates and promotes organ and tissue donation among teens and young adults, is thrilled to announce a groundbreaking collaboration with the Illinois Secretary of State’s Organ and Tissue Donor Program to launch LEAD (Lifesaving Education and Awareness on Donation) The Illinois Secretary of State’s LEAD Program is an innovative initiative aimed at equipping high school students with the knowledge and tools to become advocates for organ and tissue donation while earning community service hours for approved outreach activities. Recognizing the critical need for awareness and education surrounding organ donation, LEAD seeks to engage and empower the youth of Illinois to become advocates for donation. This unique program will provide high school students with comprehensive training, resources, and support to help them become effective advocates in their communities, ultimately saving lives through increased understanding and participation in organ donation. “We are excited to work with the Illinois Secretary of State’s Organ and Tissue Donor Program on this important initiative,” said Frank Grobmeier, Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Maddog Strong Foundation. “By using our Teach Life training module to educate these teen ambassadors we’re ensuring they not only understand the science and facts of this lifesaving cause but we’re cultivating a new generation of young leaders who will spread awareness and drive positive change in their communities.” “This first-of-its-kind initiative will inspire a culture of generosity and help save lives” said Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias. The launch event for the LEAD initiative was held earlier this month at Walter Payton College Preparatory High School in Chicago. For more information about the Maddog Strong Foundation go to www.maddogstrong.org; Learn more about the LEAD program at the Illinois Secretary of State Organ and Tissue Donor Program website www.lifegoeson.com.

Fall marks a transition period in our gardens when most perennials, trees, and shrubs enter dormancy for the winter. There is often the urge to tidy up after the first frost by immediately cutting back and removing plant debris, but this can be counterproductive to both the aesthetic and ecological value of your garden. Beth Peluse from The Conservation Foundation will share a more sustainable approach on how to put your garden to bed for the winter, including healthy fall maintenance, protecting overwintering insects, and caring for our local waterways, with some easy tips that you can do right at home.

Did you know that landscaping can be a key part of your property’s security strategy? By carefully designing and maintaining your outdoor spaces, you can deter potential intruders and enhance overall safety. Here are some ways to incorporate security into your landscaping:
- Trim shrubs to lower heights to increase visibility and reduce hiding spots.
- Place gravel in garden beds to create noise when someone walks on it, alerting you to their presence.
- Plant thorny bushes under windows or near entry points to act as a natural barrier.
At Goldy Locks Inc., we understand that comprehensive security starts with the details, and smart landscaping is one of those essential details that can help protect your property.
