Dear Parents,

Thank you for attending the Parish festival. We had a great turn out and many compliments on our kids singing for Mass. The students bring so much joy and happiness to everyone. Thank you for taking time out of your weekend to celebrate with us.

Happy Fall everyone! The busy season is coming quickly. The students are moving right along getting into the swing of things. With the third week of school complete, the teachers are getting a true assessment of each student’s ability. Now let the learning begin! We are off to a great start!

Trunk or Treat will be Friday, October 27th. Our school Halloween parties will also be that Friday.

We are going to be selling Luige’s pizzas for our first school fundraiser next month. The money we collect from fundraising helps keep the cost of tuition affordable. We are asking every family to sell $200 of items such as pizzas or cookie dough.

We are off on October 5th & 6th for teacher in-service. Our staff members will be attending CESA 6 training day to help us identify and serve students with learning differences. Please make arrangements with Ms. Jan if you need childcare. Due to the limited availability in our daycare, all students must be signed up by Friday, September 29th

Happy Fall!

Joan Schlaefer

SAFE ENVIRONMENT CERTIFICATION

All parents, volunteers and chaperones must take the Safe Environment Certification prior to any field trips or events involving children.

There is a class being held here at St. Matthew's in the cafeteria on

October 12 from 6-9pm. You must be registered to attend.

Instructions can be found here.

Every priest, deacon, parish or school staff member, teacher and lay minister that is employed by a parish or school and any volunteer working with minors in our archdiocese is required to meet three requirements:

  1. Attend a Safe Environment Education Session. This is a child abuse and maltreatment prevention program that must be attended in person. The current curriculum taught in this session utilizes the Safe Haven series from Catholic Mutual Group.
  2. Pass a Criminal Background Check. This check is done at the start of employment or beginning volunteering with minors and must be done every five (5) years subsequently. The criminal background check is conducted through the CMG Connect portal. The criminal background check reports are reviewed and certified through the collaboration of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee Safe Environment Office and parish/school Safe Environment coordinators.
  3. Sign the Code of Ethical Standards. This code of conduct provides clergy, volunteers, and employees with expectations and guidelines for how they interact with and conduct themselves in ministry. This code must be signed prior to beginning volunteering or working in a parish or school and is reviewed every five (5) years subsequently.
