JESUS’ GENEALOGY

The scriptures pay special attention to genealogical lines. When it comes to Jesus, we see two lines, both of which are important. Both lines come from Adam and King David.

One line, the line of Joseph shows His legal position of rulership proceeding through David and Solomon, the kingly line. It is found in Matthew 1:2-17. This line was the legal line, but not the blood line. The bloodline was cut off through the sin of King Jeconiah as recorded in Jeremiah 22:30, although the legal line as king continued. Joseph was a descendant of Jeconiah. Joseph was not Jesus’ natural father, but legal father through marrying Mary, and becoming the son [son-in-law] of Mary’s Father by marriage.  

King David had a close relationship with the prophet Nathan. In II Samuel 7:16 Nathan, by the vision God gave to him, declared to David, “thine house and thy kingdom shall be established for ever before thee. Thy throne shall be established forever.” 

Nathan became David’s prophet until David’s death. It is appropriate that one of David’s nineteen sons was named Nathan. It is furthermore appropriate that the very bloodline of Jesus from king David was through David’s son Nathan and not Solomon. (Luke 3:31.)

Yes, Jesus’ “legal” line of David’s kingdom came from Solomon, but not the bloodline. The blood line came through David’s son Nathan, a namesake of Nathan, the prophet, by whom the prophecy was given. This line is found in Luke 3:23-38. Both genealogy lines are important in establishing Jesus’ incarnate [human or fleshly] identity.

While Jesus left heaven’s throne to be born of human flesh, the two genealogies establish the validity and significance of that birth for his humanity. This negates past errors that some have claimed that He acted purely out of His divinity while on earth. He acted fully from His humanity so as to set the example for us. His miracles came from the Father and not just of his own will. What He “heard” from the Father is what He acted upon.

Since both genealogy lines clearly establish His humanity, it shows that we human believers can do the same works and miracles which He, in human flesh, performed. He even told us as recorded in John 14:12 says, “The works that I do shall he [the believer] do also, and [even] greater works than these shall he do…” We do these works in Jesus’ Name as we hear from Father through the Holy Ghost. While Jesus’ position was established through the two genealogies, our position is established through His blood [his blood line] which empowers us to do all His [and Father’s] works. We have been adopted into the family of God and because of that we have the legal right to use his name.

GOD’S PROMISES ARE YES AND AMEN

The Apostle Paul writes in II Corinthians 1:20 “For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him amen, unto the glory of God by us.” What exactly does this mean? I believe that if we are in Christ (born again) then all the promises that are given in the Word of God are for any believer. We receive them by faith, just like we receive salvation.

How do you know what the promises are? Well, you have to read the book to know what is in it. If you need healing, then you need to find the scriptures that give promises for healing. Such as Psalm 103:3, “Who forgiveth all thine iniquities, who healeth all thy diseases.” That is a promise for you as a believer. How do you access it? You speak it over yourself. In my case I might say it this way: “God forgiveth all Helen’s iniquities, and healeth all of Helen’s diseases.” I have used this promise and have spoken it over myself, and I have received healing for it.

What about finances? In Philippians 4:19 it says, “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” I have stood upon that promise also and have seen my needs met many times.

You will find promises for wisdom, for guidance, for a mate, a job and anything else that you need as you search the scriptures. Picture each promise as gold. You rarely see gold on the surface. You must dig for it. So, dig into the scriptures, and write down the promise you need, and then claim them and then speak them over yourself.  

How long do you wait until the promise comes? You wait until it comes, and don’t doubt that it is coming. It may take an hour, a week, a month, or years, but it is yours. There will always be a test of your faith to see if you truly believe the promise is for you.  

Satan will try to rob the promise (word) from you, but let it be in your mouth until it is manifested. Also, sin in your life can hinder the promise from being manifested, so keep your heart right with God. Repent if you need to, then expect God to manifest that promise to you by faith

Remember all of God’s promises are yes and amen!

Now you can get up, cheer up and be in total peace; While knowing that IF your dream is big enough…The facts simply do not matter. You see TRUTH can indeed change FACTS; But facts cannot ever change real truth. So you hold onto that dream for IF God who is The Truth gave you the dream; Then you can rest in knowing that it makes absolutely no difference what the facts (I.E. your own lack of ability to make it happen) says about your dream. Oh, but you can be assured that God's TRUTH will always CHANGE the FACTS! However, there is one thing you must do; And that is you gotta stretch your FAITH and hold on tightly to that dream…For God can and He WILL bring it all to pass...In His timing. So keep your dream alive and have a greatly blessed, happy and a productive week.

Thought for the Day

As believers in Jesus we understood what was going on with Mary and Joseph. It was a prophecy from Isaiah being fulfilled. “Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.”

As she carried the baby Jesus, I am sure she was ridiculed and gossiped about. After all, she was only engaged to Joseph. There was no sin involved with Mary and Joseph, but neighbors and friends had no understanding of what had happened.

Today the same thing happens in our lives. A situation occurs and we judge and gossip about it without knowing anything about it. The gossip and ridicule can be very damaging to those involved. If you have been involved in gossip and ridicule of someone, repent. Scripture gives us clear understanding about the words we speak.

“But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.”

“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”
