A Request from Lilly, Jacob & Hadley Friedman!

Hey there Everyone! This is Hadley, Jacob, and Lilly. Becoming B’nai Mitzvah doesn’t just mean reading a whole bunch of prayers & chanting from the Torah. The definition of mitzvah is a good deed for religious duty. In this case, doing good deeds as part of fulfilling our duty in being called up to the Torah; which leads to our mitzvah project.

For our mitzvah project, we are collecting gently used sports equipment to donate to kids who do not have access to or cannot afford to buy their own. We have chosen this project because we believe that children should have an active and healthy life, and playing sports is part of living an active life. We love playing sports and feel everyone should have a chance to play sports or try different sports, especially team sports.

After a lot of research, we have concluded that the Fairfield County Sports Hall of Fame & Youth Sports Foundation is the best organization to work with in the area in which we live. The Fairfield County Sports Hall Of Fame & Youth Sports Foundation is a non-profit charitable and educational organization that believes in promoting fitness and a healthy active lifestyle especially for youths who don’t have access to equipment or whose families do not have the disposable income to purchase equipment. After all, a lot of this equipment is expensive! The Foundation’s mission aligns with our goals for our Mitzvah project. We have collected some gently used sports equipment, but we need your help to be able to complete our mitzvah project!

You can directly help us achieve success with this project! Please bring any gently used sports equipment to our B’nai Mitzvah service. There will be a collection box in the lobby of our Synagogue through Rosh Hashanah. The Foundation accepts equipment from all the major sports--boys and girls’ sports-baseball/softball, ice hockey, field hockey, basketball, soccer, football, lacrosse, etc. - cleats/athletic shoes for all sports as well. If you have any gently used equipment lying around, we will happily take it off your hands to help the Foundation achieve its mission. We hope that this enables youths to develop a passion for a sport they might not necessarily play because they cannot obtain equipment. They might even become the next Brennan O’Neill, Charlotte North, LeBron James, Tom Brady, Caitlin Clark, Cristiano Ronaldo, Mia Hamm, Wayne Gretzky, etc. You get the picture! Thank you for to help us achieve our goal with our mitzvah project!

With love,

Lilly, Jacob & Hadley

Wi-ACT’s Rise Against Hunger Meal-Packaging Event
(Wilton Interfaith Action Committee )
Wi-ACT’s Rise Against Hunger meal-packaging event will be held on Saturday, Oct. 19th at the WEPCO Church Complex, 36 New Canaan Road, Wilton. The meal-packaging work is in 90-minute shifts; beginning at 9 am, 11 am, 1 pm, and 3 pm. Children as young as 7 can participate, and intergenerational family groups are welcome and very much encouraged. On-line registration site for this event for TBC members will be coming soon.
We all know how joyous and uplifting the experience is as we package meals to serve hundreds of children in some of the most food-deprived circumstances in the world. This year, we hope to package 50% more meals than last year, and if we do, we can feed 300 children for an entire year.
Hope to see you there!

It is traditional to light a memorial candle at home on the eve of the yahrzeit. You may also find it meaningful while kindling the yahrzeit candle to offer prayers of remembrance or reflect on your loved one’s life. Many also choose this time to make monetary donations in memory of loved ones

Yahrzeit Memorial Plaques

When remembering loved ones who have passed away, we invite you to commemorate their lives and blessings with a memorial plaque for the TBC wall of remembrance. Ordering information is available here.
