» Health Equity Literacy: Exploring the CLAS Standards as a Blueprint for Education, Healthcare, and School Mental Health Systems Collaboration
How might we, as educators and healthcare professionals, impact the ongoing school mental health crisis together in a systems’ aligned approach? How might we, as educators, establish mutually beneficial partnerships with community healthcare providers and systems? How might weaving the world of health, public health, and education improve our ability to create equitable school mental health services and systems? By...learning how to integrate distinctly different systems into a more cohesive network of support through shared cultural and linguistic standards!

This three-part series aimed to increase our health equity literacy toolbox as school or systems leaders by exploring the National Standards for Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS), a set of 15 actions steps intended to advance health equity, improve quality, and help eliminate health care disparities. This is a tool developed for public health, not originally for school mental health; we offered this series to merge tools and systems for the benefit of our school outcomes. |

» Getting Grief Ready at Work: A Starter Kit Workshop Series
The Pacific Southwest MHTTC team is dedicated and funded to provide the mental health and school mental health workforces with evidence-based practices to support the field. To address the need for evidence-based grief support in the mental health field, we published the Fostering Grief Ready Workplaces: A Starter Kit for Mental Health and School Mental Health Leadership (March 2022) to provide essential ingredients for guiding you and your organization through the basics of supporting a grieving workforce.
In November and December 2022, we explored how we can utilize the starter kit in our own management, supervision, leadership, and workplaces.
Part 1 covered:
- Grief Readiness: The basics & how grief impacts our workforce
- Self-Reflection: How grief ready am I? Is my team? Is my system?
- Approaching grief readiness with a power analysis, cultural sensitivity, and anti-racism at work
Part 2 explored:
- Implementation science and grief readiness at work: the stages to navigating and confronting loss at work
- Being a manager, supervisor, or leader in the context of loss
- Crafting a grief readiness plan (including examining workplace culture, identifying areas to become more grief sensitive in culture, and exploring your bereavement leave policies for equitable shifts)

EXTENDED DEADLINE:
Apply by Jan 24 for the 2023 Classroom WISE Technical Assistance Opportunity
The MHTTC Network and the National Center for School Mental Health (NCSMH) invite schools and school districts to apply to receive free technical assistance to help them adopt and use our educator mental health literacy training package, Classroom WISE (Well-Being Information and Strategies for Educators) during the Spring 2023 term.
What is this?
We're inviting 20 schools and school districts across the U.S. to help us understand what types of assistance they need to adopt Classroom WISE (e.g., how many school personnel complete the online course and access the materials on our website, and how the skills and materials in Classroom WISE are used in practice).
A small leadership team from each participating school/district will receive, at no cost: an orientation webinar, a written guide about Classroom WISE, an individual facilitation meeting with Classroom WISE developers who are national school mental health experts, and an invitation to participate in two virtual community of practice sessions. All leadership teams will be asked to complete baseline and follow-up surveys. Half of the selected schools/districts will also receive a planning support session to develop an implementation plan for Classroom WISE in their school/district.
The application deadline is January 24.
