Hello, March!
Hi neighbor,

I hope your February was full of love and heart-healthy efforts. The American Heart Association joined me to proclaim February as American Heart Month.

Improving the health and well-being of all San Jose residents is one of my goals as your Councilmember. I aim for San Jose to become a certified Blue Zones city. This means becoming a city with the healthiest and longest-living people. Together, through policy and community, we can ensure everyone lives life to the fullest.

A healthy community celebrates and that is why I am proclaiming March as Women's History Month with Vice Mayor Rosemary Kamei and Councilmember Pam Foley. Below are women-owned businesses in District 6 that you can take your mother, grandmother, sister, or friend to celebrate:

This month, I highly encourage you to join two of my virtual relationship-strengthening events. My Office Hours are on Wednesday, March 8th from 5:30PM-6:30PM and my State of the District Address is on Thursday, March 23rd from 6PM-8PM.

Also in this newsletter, you will find many fun outdoor events and volunteer opportunities.

Please stay safe and warm as the winter weather continues.

Best,

Dev

This event will be recorded and shared if you are not able to join us.
Addressing Planning and Permitting

As part of this year’s budget process, I co-chaired a committee on planning and permitting to help speed up those processes and make them more user-friendly for residents and developers. In working with community and business leaders, our committee successfully incorporated new ideas that will be included in this year’s budget cycle. These ideas include simplifying the online application portal, streamlining the approvals process, and ensuring the City has enough staff to complete the job.
Welcoming Spring to San Jose
March is Women's History Month

To celebrate all of the amazing women in San Jose and around the world, Vice Mayor Kamei, Councilmember Foley, and I are lighting City Hall in purple through Friday, March 10th.

Purple is one of the colors that represent Women's History Month. It signifies the justice and dignity women have advocating for equality.

Cheers to women everywhere and all of the impressive things they do!
