We are so thankful for this church community, for the loving friends that feel like family. Thank You for bringing us together at St. John Vianney.
We give thanks for the opportunities we have to build each other up, to grow in our Catholic faith together, and support each other.
Thank You for the special times we’ve had together, that create wonderful memories.
We pray that You would bless our parish and parish family with unity, compassion, and understanding, as we walk out our faith together each day.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

THANKSGIVING COMMUNITY DINNER
This Thursday, November 28 from 12:00-4:00pm
For fifteen years, Holy Family has been providing a restaurant style Thanksgiving meal to our community. Let us serve together as a parish family to bring joy on Thanksgiving Day to those who might otherwise be alone or go without. Lots of volunteers are needed as well as many donations. Monetary donations or gift cards to Costco, Safeway, or US Chef Store are gratefully accepted. If you are interested in volunteering, please send an email to: hfkthanksgiving@gmail.com. Questions? Email Andrea.

READINGS FOR THE FIRST SUNDAY OF ADVENT
PRACTICE OF FAITH
The Church provides the season of Advent as a time to prepare for the coming of Christ. Mark the days through Advent with an Advent calendar, Advent wreath, and the daily reading of seasonal stories.
- Build a home library of books focused on this season. Wrap the books and place in a basket near the Advent wreath. Unwrap and read one book weekly.
- The Jesse tree is an Advent custom that helps us connect the festive practice of decorating Christmas trees to the biblical ancestors leading to Jesus' birth. Start with a bare branch or tree and hang one ornament representing an individual figure from the ancestry of Jesus each day.
- Celebrate the optional Memorial of St. Nicholas on December 6. St. Nicholas was the bishop of fourth-century Myra (modern-day Turkey) and, according to legend, he anonymously offered generous help to those in need. One story says he dropped bags of gold down the chimneys of poor families, widows, and orphans. Surprise family members with a stocking filled with little gifts. Plan an anonymous gift for a person or agency in need.
AT MASS
- If you need to have communion brought to you in the pew, please let an usher know.
- Please exit through the narthex after Masses to greet our priests.
- Covid Safety Measures

With Thanksgiving upon us, there is no better time to express our gratitude for all of God's abundant blessings. We only have 79 Stewardship pledges so far, out of our ~600 households, with a goal of at least 250 returns. Even if you are giving electronically, we ask that you return a pledge card or go online to pledge there. As we begin to conclude our yearly campaign on Stewardship, prayerfully reflect on the blessings God has given to you and the ways in which we have been blessed through the gifts of others. Your generosity allows us to continue the mission of Jesus Christ both here in our parish family and in the wider community.
May you and your loved ones have a blessed Thanksgiving holiday.
Make your pledge online using the button below or by scanning the QR code.
If you have already sent in your response, please accept our sincerest thanks and appreciation for participating this year!

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS PANCAKE BREAKFAST
Thank you to the Knights of Columbus for hosting the Pancake Breakfast to support the work of St. Vincent De Paul. A special shout out to the Garcia-Ramirez Family and the Chavira Family for working so hard to help bring this back to life! Thanks as well Brad Lund for his constant support.
And thank you to all the families that supported by eating breakfast! About $700 was raised for St. Vincent de Paul!
| |
Thank you all for your prayers as the high schoolers were on retreat. We had a wonderful time up at Hope Lodge filled with lots of prayer and fun. The kids definitely enjoyed spending time with each other and getting to know kids from the other parishes involved. Lots of smiles and laughs were shared over the weekend. We were grateful to be blessed with some snow over the weekend and the kids enjoyed getting to go sledding along with taking snow pictures.
If you missed either the middle or high school retreats or went and had fun, mark your calendar for our Middle School Spring Retreat April 4-6 and our High School Spring Retreat March 28-30.
| |
The Young Adults had so much fun last Friday. Thanks to all who came. Can't wait to see you at the next Swing Event!
Thank you to the Seiler and Schwientek clans for cleaning up the parking lot before the weekend Masses after last week's bomb cyclone!
We served nearly 800 families at the Tri-Parish Food Bank for their Thanksgiving distribution. In the words of one of our youth, "It was a good day to reflect on all that we have."

Our goal this year is to serve 100 families. Of course, we would not be able to do this without your help. When you do your own shopping, please consider purchasing some of the items on the following schedule.
Nov 30 - Dec 1: Cooking Oil, Jam/Jelly, Pancake Mix, Syrup, Canned Tomatoes, Tomato Sauce, Pasta, Mac & Cheese, Top Ramen, Canned Fruit Juice, Coffee (Instant & Bean), Tea Bags, 5 LB Flour, 4LB Sugar, Salt
Dec 7-8: Cooking Oil, Canned Fruit, Pancake Mix, Syrup, Jam/Jelly, Canned Vegetables, Spaghetti Sauces, Pasta, Cake Mix, Frosting, Brownie Mix, Stove Top Stuffing Mix, 5 LB Flour, 4 LB Sugar, Canned Stew
Donations may be placed in the SVDP box in the Narthex. Your support is sincerely appreciated.
| |
FOLLOW JESUS’ CALL TO ASSIST THE POOR
The St. Vincent de Paul (SVDP) group (SVDP) at SJV helps our neighbors in need within the local community. Every weekday, families or individuals in Kirkland and Kenmore contact the church to request assistance for rent, utilities, food, clothing, gasoline, and other essential needs. The parish relies on our SVDP group to provide help and hope to these neighbors. SVDP also coordinates the Christmas Basket program for needy families. Being a “Vincentian” is a rewarding activity that brings the love of Christ to others, while giving us peace and joy.
Our SVDP group could use your help to respond to the needs of our neighbors. If you are interested in learning more about this ministry, please contact the SJV office at 425-823-0787.
