Holi: The Festival of Love

Holi is an ancient festival of India, known initially as 'Holika.' This year Holi will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 8. It is considered one of the most revered and celebrated festivals in almost every part of the country. The festival lasts one day and night, starting on the evening of Purnima, or the Full Moon Day. During Holi, people unite to forgive and forget all resentment and bad feelings toward each other.

Colors are the most joyous part of Holi celebrations, adding life and vitality to the festival. Today, many recognize this festival for its vibrantly colored powders that participants toss at each other. Each color holds a significant meaning that can vary depending on the area, culture, or person.

March is National Nutrition Month

Are you falling behind on your new year’s resolution to eat healthier? Here are some ideas to help you get back on the right track. When shopping at your local supermarket, you’ll find healthier options in the aisles around the perimeter, including fresh produce, meat, and dairy. Remember to add color to your plate with seasonal fruits and vegetables and don’t forget to drink plenty of water throughout the day. Being a full-time student with a busy schedule can make it hard to eat a well-balanced diet. If you’re looking for healthy recipes and help with meal planning click here for a list of free apps.
