To charge for alcohol at an event venue that does not hold a liquor license, you may apply for a special event permit. Special event permits are issued by either the city or county depending on where the facility is located. The DCSD Legacy Campus does not and will not hold a liquor license, so if your Chapter is hosting an event at that location and selling alcohol, you must apply for a Special Event Permit through the city of Lone Tree.
Per Colorado Liquor Code, "The state or a local licensing authority shall not issue a special event permit to any organization for more than fifteen days in one calendar year." Meaning that the Foundation, which includes all chapters, as a whole cannot request more than 15 permits in one calendar year. Due to this restriction and the Foundation's need for a minimum of 3 permits a year, we can only approve 12 additional requests per year. This will be done on a first-come-first-served basis. We have 4 Chapters that have already requested permits for their upcoming events.
Again, this only applies to events that will be selling alcohol, if the bar is hosted by the entity this is not required. Additionally, this is a process your Chapter must complete and we will provide the information for the form once requested. The Foundation office will NOT request a permit on your behalf.
