Hello Marblehead Community Charter Families,
The MCAS testing begins next week. Please encourage your student to do their best. Getting a good night sleep and eating a healthy breakfast will help. Often we see students rush through the test sessions. While the tests are designed to take only the morning to complete, they are untimed. Students may have as much time within the school day to complete each session. We encourage students to go slow and be thoughtful about their answers. As we do not receive the results of these assessments until the fall, we use the data to make adjustments to our instruction.
Please have students leave cell phones and smart watches at home on testing days. Test administrators will take these items during the test.
ELA MCAS SCHEDULE:
Monday March 27 & Tuesday March 28
Grades 7 & 8 ELA Tests
Thursday March 30 and Friday March 31
Grade 5 ELA Tests
Monday April 3 and Tuesday April 4
Grade 4 & 6 ELA Tests
Beginning Monday March 27, Enrichment will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Today, students and parents have access to the Enrichment course catalogs that are linked below. We have created grade level course lists so that students know what Enrichments are open to their grade level.
On Mondays, some students may opt to participate in some extended day options that are also linked below. Some of these options are fee-based, including the Track & Field Team and the Theatre Program. Please let us know if your child is interested in participating in one of these programs, but cost is an issue. We can discuss scholarship options with you individually.
Please note, not all students will opt-in for the extended day program on Mondays. Please sign up if interested. Students not attending the extended day program on Mondays will be dismissed at 2:30pm.

The spring trimester has begun. We will share report cards for the winter trimester in PowerSchool next week. For the spring, there are many special events, performances, and field trips. Later this spring, as dates and plans for all of these events are finalized, we will update the upcoming events section of this newsletter accordingly.
Thank you to Mr. G for organizing last week's Winter Carnival. The students in attendance had so much fun. The 7th graders did a nice job running the events.
