Letter from the Principal
Dear Trivium families,

I am sure most of you have heard of my retirement plans at the end of this school year, but I want to make this official. After 31 years, it is time for me to pass the torch and figure out what being retired is all about. While I know it is time, I am sad to leave Trivium. I will miss the teachers and the parents, but most of all our children.

Trivium has been a dream come true for me. My entire teaching career I believed there was a better way to teach children. I did not like scripted curriculum or that all children should be on the same page on the same day. When Sheryl, Chrissi and I took our story to the Texas Education Association, they believed we would have a successful school, and we have done just that.

Our teachers, staff, and our families make the Trivium family work. Without the support of the families, none of this would have happened. They make our lives better in so many ways, and our children love seeing our moms and dads at work around their school.  My work with PIE has been one of the best experiences. Not only have we had fun, but we have made school life better at Trivium. Our families make this school unique, and we are all thankful every single day for their contribution.

This school has given me the perfect ending to my career. I thank everyone for allowing me to have this opportunity, and I will always be grateful for our parents who have done everything I ever asked them to do and more.  How I transitioned from high school teacher to being surrounded by small elementary students has been such a change, but I love every minute of it.

This is not goodbye. I still have grandchildren here, so I will be around in a different role. I am confident being a Gammy is the best transition of all. Thank you to all of you and your families. My life is forever changed because of the friendships, fun, and much love.

Proud to be a Knight,
Marsha Cawthon

Administration Transition Plan
Beginning next year, Sheryl Bradley will return to her original role of Superintendent/Principal. To aid in this transition, the board has voted to bring a fantastic company, Dynamic Support Solutions (DSS), on board to fill a fractional CFO role along with related back-office services. DSS has a great team with a long history of working in and with charter schools. With this addition, Mrs. Bradley is excited to have the opportunity to return more of her time and attention back to the campus level.

We are also thrilled to announce that we will have two assistant principal positions next year, and the fabulous two who will be filling these crucial roles likely need no introduction. Chrissi Cawthon will serve as the Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Instruction, and Cynthia Zea will serve as the Assistant Principal of Student Services. We are also grateful that Jeri Wolfe will continue to serve as the Business/HR Manager.

We will all dearly miss Marsha and are looking forward to working together to make this as smooth of a transition as possible.
Four-Day Week Parent Survey
One of the leading trends that is gaining momentum is the use of a four-day school week. Locally, we are beginning to see surrounding charter schools and smaller school districts researching and piloting this program mainly to aid in teacher retention and recruitment. Trivium Academy values the involvement of our families within our community; therefore, collecting your feedback is requested to help guide a decision.

There are many factors to consider during this process. A few topics are: staff recruitment and retention, addressing teacher shortages, student and staff attendance, quality of instruction, and morale and mental health of staff and students.

As with any new idea or change, people have thoughts, concerns, and ideas that need to be shared. This survey will help you share your opinions with the school. Please review the FAQ document and potential calendars (attached to the survey) before filling in the survey. This survey is intended for current K-11th grade Trivium families only, and only one survey per family will be accepted. Surveys without a valid email address and/or from someone without a current student will not be accepted. The survey will be open from March 3-7.

Thank you for taking the time to contribute to the conversations guiding this decision for the students, families, and staff at Trivium Academy.

Community Service Reminder

At Trivium, one of the graduation requirements written into our charter is 10 hours of community service each year of high school. Due to the COVID pandemic, the service hour requirement was waived for the 19-20, 20-21, and 21-22 school years. For the 22-23 school year, all high school students must complete 10 hours of service. The students will need to get the form linked below completed for each organization where they volunteer. Students can turn in the form to Ms. Chandler.
Attendance Reminders
Trivium is a public charter school and therefore must follow state mandates regarding attendance.

*Please note- Texas law requires a district to retain students who are not in school at least 90% of the time a class meets. This includes excused and unexcused absences. Also, per state law, after a student acquires 10 unexcused absences, districts are required to file truancy.

When a student is absent, parents must send an email to attendance@triviumacademytx.com on the night before or morning of a student’s absence.

When students are absent, we must have a note from the parent or doctor concerning his/her absence(s) when he/she returns to school. If a student does not have a note when he/she returns to school, an unexcused absence will be recorded for those days. A two-day grace period will be extended to the student to bring in a note. No more than 3 parent notes per semester will be accepted.

Notes must include the following to be accepted:
  •  Student’s first and last name
  •  Grade level
  •  Days and dates missed
  •  Reason for absence(s)
  •  Parent’s signature
  •  Contact numbers
