Message from the Associate Dean - BCH Oakland
September 2024

Sliding into September
I hope you all had a lovely holiday weekend.
September marks the time we settle into the academic year. I’ve had a lovely time getting to know some of the new trainees. See below for the current request for proposals for the BCH Oakland Research Scholars. The School of Medicine Dean’s Office at UCSF BCH-Oakland is providing one-time funds aimed at supporting clinical fellows and residents engaged in innovative and impactful research that benefits patients at UCSF BCH-Oakland. Funding is intended to pay for expenses that will augment the trainees’ ability to present and/or publish their data and foster research independence. Applications are due September 30, 2024.
Thanks to those of you who came out for Coffee and Donuts with Dean King and President Gunasekaran on August 7th in Oakland. It was really nice to see everyone.
Thank you to those who came out to the first of our First Wednesday MLK Mixers on Wednesday -- we have a nice time.
This is also the month to get your influenza vaccine at the hospital and your updated COVID booster at a site near you! Stay tuned for email announcements in this regard.
Be well and stay cool,
Kelley

Release of the UCSF Changemaker Series | |
The UCSF Changemaker Series, created by Professor of Medicine Hilary Seligman, MD, MAS, is a four-part video series that seeks to build the capacity of UCSF researchers to generate scientific evidence that is responsive to the needs of real-world decision-makers. Each 10-15 minute video highlights a UCSF researcher in conversation with an interdisciplinary panel of non-academic experts discussing how investigators at all stages of their careers can more meaningfully inform policies, systems, and structures in order to create social or policy change.
