CRAB is coming along and entries are starting to fill up. Also the CRAB team is looking for some volunteers to help with various parts of the weekend. Want to be one of first to greet your friends then help with registration. Or some of the various activities.

When sending me a video it needs to be on a webpage (link) or a file not to exceed 5MB. Also images have the same limit. (I am able to resize most of them).

Please note text that is blue text is a link.

When we use MSR (Motorsport Registration) all of those events advertised are linked to the specific registration. If the ad is an image then the click on it for the link.

Porsche --- 75 Year celebrations around the world
·      Expect to see a lot of media items regarding the 75th anniversary of Porsche over the next 9 months.
·      Check out this website:  https://www.porsche.com/taiwan/en/aboutporsche/75years/
·      Not too sure how the ‘taiwan’ got into that URL but it works.
·      Wolfgang Porsche (youngest son of Ferdinand Porsche) will celebrate his 80th birthday on May 10th (a piece of trivia that I am sure that Kim Nelson knows).

Valentine’s Eve Dinner
·      This was a great hit. Thanks to Cyndee and Greg Peart.
·      I took home half of my lasagna (9 layers thick according to Sally Boeck).
·      Good possibility about having this event again next year?

TSD Rally School – Date Change
·      This SVR event has been rescheduled to March 12th (was March 19th).
·      It is being held at Porsche Fremont (in Fremont of course).
·      So far we have 25 cars signed up.

CRAB 38
·      More than 150 people already signed up for this Premier Porsche Weekend.
·      Registration is open until April 15th.

San Simeon Tour
·      Mike Willis reports that people have started to sign up for the May tour.
·      You will need to make your own hotel reservations and reservations for any tour at Hearst Castle. Check out  msreg.com/SANSIMEON ;
Porsches and Pints
·      The brainchild of our Vice President, John Leet, the first event will be held on Thursday, March 16th at the Red Bus Brewing Company in Folsom. Be sure and check out the names of their offerings.
·      This is a very informal gathering. Just drop in.
·      Expect to possibly see some fellow Porsche owners who are not members of our region. Be sure and introduce yourself and invite them to join PCA, Sacramento Valley Region.
·      And wear your SVR name badge so know how to recognize you.

Spring Fling
·      Matt Menning is hosting this event on Saturday, March 25th at Kathrin’s Biergarten in Rocklin (just down the street from Porsche Rocklin).
·      Come out for lunch and also participate in the “Show-n-Shine” Corral!
·      This event is open to all Porsche owners so be sure and wear your SVR badge so that we know how to recognize you.
·      Event starts at 11:15 am and you are on your own for beverages and food.

Luftgekuhlt NINE
·      This event is coming to the San Francisco Bay Area at the end of April.
·      Luftgekuhlt means “air-cooled” and is the gathering for vintage cars with air-cooled engines.
·      It has been based in Southern California since its inception.
·      This will be the 9th presentation.
·      Details are very sketchy right now. Stay tuned.

Formula e
·      Tag Heuer Porsche Formula E Team is leading the series after the 5th race (out of a scheduled 16 events) which ran in Cape Town on February 25th.
·      Antonino Felix da Costa finished the Cape Town street circuit course in first place after starting in 13th. This gave Porsche its third victory in the first 5 races. It also moved da Costa up in to 4th place in the overall driver’s championship. The win (along with a 3rd place finish in a previous race) gives him a total of 46 points.
·      Porsche Tag Heuer Team driver Pascal Wehrlein is leading the series (even though he did not finish the race in Cape Town due to an accident on the first lap). He has 80 points with the second-place driver (Jake Dennis) having 62 points.
·      The next race is being held on a street circuit in Sao Paulo, Brazil on March 25th and can be seen live on the CBS Sports Network.

PCA Spring 2023 Raffle just announced
·      2023 Cayman GT4 RS is the 1st grand prize.
·      2023 Cayman GTS or Boxster GTS is the 2nd grand prize.
·      As always, you can enter the PCA Member Only Raffle at pca.org
·      A ticket will cost you $50.

YOUR LOCAL EXPERT IN ALL YOUR REAL ESTATE NEEDS
California Auto Museum
Steve McCrory

What could possibly be a better venue to hold a weekend SVR Porsche Club party than a auto museum, in this case the California Auto Museum in Sacramento?

The 71,000 square foot building on Front Street was once a grocery warehouse, and eventually became the Towe Ford Museum featuring the collection of Montana resident Edward Towe. The now re-imagined
and renamed California Auto Museum now holds 150 cars representing America's automotive love affair. Some cars are owned by the museum and some are on loan from private owners.

The museum often hosts car club activities and educational events, and docents are often available to describe the features and history of the cars on display. The collection scans 120 years of automotive progress, and includes a 911SC owned by Linda Rondstadt. (ed. And it is parked next to one of Jerry Brown's sate cars.)

Bring a camera or your cell phone to take photos. I can already hear the conversations as SVR members roam the collection, “I used to have a car just like that one.”
CRAB SATURDAY ROAD TOUR Saturday April 22nd

Tour Meisters Matt Menning and Rick Duste are putting the final touches on the CRAB Road Tour for Saturday April 22nd and will be releasing the route and important details soon.

The drive will start out from a Davis launch point, wind its way down through the Delta orchards and farm land arriving at Rio Vista Airport for a brief bio-break.  The route will continue on traversing the Sacramento riverbank towns of Isleton, Walnut Grove, Paintersville, Courtland and Freeport before joining I-5 for a short hop to Detail Maniac’s new shop in Sacramento where lunch will be served.

Registration has been brisk so if your interested in joining the group, don’t hesitate on registering soon.
CRAB 38 Volunteers Needed
By Collin Fat

The CRAB 38 Committee consists of 12 hardworking SVR members who have been working hard on the planning for CRAB 38. The event has been postponed twice due to the pandemic and has attributed to several changes in the makeup of the CRAB team. Now that chairs, John Hawk and John Lanting have filled out their committee, there is still a need for volunteers to help at the different events.

PCA and SVR are fueled by volunteers. Without them there would be no tours, dinners, autocross, rallies, or concours events. CRAB is a volunteer intensive effort that goes well beyond just planning for each event during the CRAB weekend. It needs volunteers to help with registration on Friday, setup for the big crab dinner on Saturday, bartenders to help serve beer and wine, and members to help with setting up for the concours and beer and brat on Sunday. It is a labor-intensive effort and we need your help.

If you are already registered for the event and have not volunteered, please consider giving a few hours of your time to help make this a successful CRAB. If you have not yet registered, please take a few moments out of your event time to volunteer. If all members chip in to help, it makes the effort to put on this event more doable and less stressful for the committee chairs. Thanks for listening!

What to Expect From a CRAB Autocross
By Collin Fat
SVR Autocross Chair

Autocross is an all forward motion, driving skill event with a non-drag race, rolling start and finish. Automobiles are timed while driving a course laid-out on a paved area. Safety of the entrants, workers and spectators will be of paramount importance in the design and conduct of the event. Autocross is a great way to learn about car control and the amazing performance of
our beloved Porsches in a safe and controlled environment.

The CRAB autocross course will be laid out on a large skid pad or paved area measuring some 400,000 square feet in size where speeds can reach up to 60 mph. Average time to complete a course for an experienced driver will range from 35 to 45 seconds. You will run on a course outlined by plastic traffic cones and have to navigate various obstacles on the course including a slalom, gentle sweepers and various turns requiring anticipation, precision, and getting on the gas to quickly accelerate. You will use your brakes fully and when on a straight, will be on the gas. It is totally a fun way in which to learn car control.

Many of you who have never driven in an autocross may be wondering if you will embarrass yourself and not know what to do. Not true! We will provide in car instructor for all drivers who request assistance and will even loan you a helmet. There is no pressure to get the top time of day as a CRAB autocross is geared as an introduction to the sport and be more of a fun experience. Will you get nervous on your first run? Of course. Will your heart race when you drive to the starting line? Of Course. Will you ultimately have fun? Absolutely!

As part of the registration process you will be required to class your experience level as novice, intermediate or advanced. This will allow the CRAB autocross team to give out some fun awards at the Sunday awards ceremony.

Of course, your Porsche must be in good working order with tread on the tires, no fluid leaks, and in general good working order. If you are unsure, I advise potential participants to have your local mechanic do a pre-event safety inspection to ease some of your concerns. Many times, this service can be performed for free if you are a good customer.

The CRAB 38 autocross will be held on Saturday, April 22nd from 7:30 am to 2:30 PM at Thunderhill Raceway Park in Willows, Ca. Thunderhill is approximately 93 miles north of the California Automobile Museum in Sacramento off of interstate 5.

For more information on how to prepare your car for your first event visit the Sacramento Valley Region's website at www.svr-pca.org
The tour registration is now available at
Please note there is a 25 car limit for this tour.
