Halton police present
2025 budget request

The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) and Halton Police Board (HPB) have proposed a 2025 funding request totaling $231,989,891, which includes a 13.8% budget increase.
Key priorities of the proposal include:
- Addition of up to 26 sworn officer positions.
- Addition of 21 civilian staff positions.
- Upgrade/replace front-line technology tools
- Respond to population growth

Oakville ranks among Canada's
leaders in housing starts per capita

Oakville has ranked 12th overall, being one of Canada’s top 20 municipalities for housing development in the national housing start statistics, according to Dr. Mike Moffatt of the Smart Prosperity Institute. Since 2018, Oakville has lead in national housing start statistics among Canadian municipalities.
According to recent data, Oakville ranked:
- #12 in Total Housing Starts per 1,000 Residents (2018–2024)
- #24 in Apartment Unit Starts per 1,000 Residents (2018–2024)
- #12 in Ground Unit Starts per 1,000 Residents (2018–2024)
Oakville’s performance places it alongside only two other Ontario communities such as Pickering and Kitchener, while British Columbia dominated the top 20 rankings with eight municipalities, and Quebec contributed four.

Ontario Continuing to Support and Grow its Nursing Workforce
The Ontario government is bringing more nurses into the health care system by investing more than $500 million to educate new nurses and increasing opportunities for current nurses to access specialized training to upskill while on the job. The province is also working with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) to reduce barriers for internationally educated nurses, allowing them to register to work in Ontario faster and start caring for Ontarians sooner.

Ontario Cracking Down on Immigration Scams
The Ontario government will soon introduce legislation to crack down on fraudulent immigration representatives who exploit newcomers. If passed, the bill would enable the province to create standards that immigration representatives must meet when assisting individuals or employers with their Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) application, with penalties for those who violate these standards including fines, multi-year bans and lifetime bans.
