LINK TO HOPE NEWSLETTER

A message from the Executive Director - Melissa Karrer

Hi Friends,

As the crisp air arrives and leaves begin to change, we are reminded of the beauty of transformation and the power of community.

October is a busy month for us at Kentucky CancerLink, as it comes with many opportunities to connect with community partners for outreach events. This month, we will be attending health fairs, walks and runs and Paint the Town Pink events from Pikeville to Paducah. We will also continue to link women in Kentucky to no-cost mammogram screenings and provide support for those in need of wigs, bras, prostheses, or lymphedema garments.

We are incredibly grateful for your continued support and dedication. Together, we can provide vital resources and be a link to hope to those in need. Stay tuned for more updates and stories of inspiration throughout the month.

Cheers,

Melissa

WKYT - Link to Hope

Each month on WKYT, a Link to Hope story is featured with Amber Philpott.

Our most recent story features a Lexington resident who has made it her mission, in memory of her dear friend, to ensure women in Kentucky are aware of the ovarian cancer screening program.

Out and About

Melanie attended Baptist Health Louisville's 3rd Annual Community against Cancer Block Party on Sat., Sep. 14th. We love taking part in this fun event, with so many other wonderful organizations, to raise awareness and to make cancer screenings fun!

Melanie attended Mt. Nebo Baptist Church's Fun Festival in Louisville on Sat., Sep. 21st. KCL was there to provide education and awareness of cancer screening guidelines and provided an opportunity for average risk individuals to get screened for colon cancer with an at-home FIT test.

Thank You!

THANK YOU to our 10th Annual Links to Hope

Golf Scramble sponsors!

KCL hosted our 10th annual Links to Hope charity golf scramble on Tuesday, Sep. 16 at Champions golf course in Nicholasville. It was a fun day, and the weather turned out perfect. Thank you to all who participated.

Delicious Ideas

Chili Mac

October is the official kick off for soup & chili season in our house and this is one of our family favorites.

If you have someone who isn't crazy about beans, this is a great cozy recipe for a crisp, fall evening. It's hearty & delicious and involves lots of cheese.

Jiffy Mix Cornbread

This is the perfect side dish for soups and chilis and this recipe uses two boxes of classic jiffy mix, that deliciously sweet cornbread that comes in a little blue box.

There's no measuring, which makes this recipe so easy. Just add a couple of ingredients to the mix & it's ready to go into the oven.

Pumpkin Chili

We're going strong with our pumpkin theme with this recipe. The addition of pumpkin gives this chili lots of added nutrition including vitamins A & C.

This recipe can become vegetarian or vegan by omitting the meat and using vegetable broth in place of the chicken broth.
