THIS WEEK'S TALK BY

REV. CATH DEPALMA

"Standing in Our Power"

Ernest Holmes wrote, There is a Power for Good in the Universe and I can use it! We were born powerful creators. Learn what claiming our personal power can do for us personally, and collectively, with loved ones and the world around us. See how life becomes more interesting and engaging as we align ourselves with the truth of our being. We were born to live rich, healthy, fulfilling lives. - Rev. Cath DePalma

For the past 7 years, Rev. Cath has helped communities move through transition as an Interim Minister for Centers for Spiritual Living. She has authored 2 books with a 3rd one on the way: I Do My Best Work Behind the Scenes. Previously, she served as Co-Director of Central Florida CSL, (Orlando), with her husband, John, for 26 years. Currently she lives in Kelowna, British Columbia with her husband, enjoying the great Northwest.

GUEST ARTIST

Raven Barrientos

Raven has always had a love for music. She has been singing since age 8 and has played violin since age 10. Her father is also a musician. What once was a career goal has shifted into a need for healing and personal expression for Raven. She was a part of the music ministry at CSLN from 2016 - 2019 and enjoys the teachings as they resonate with her beliefs. When she is not performing as a Stereo Angel, she is writing music for solo projects as well as creating cards for her soon to be released sea inspired oracle deck. Both the songs and the cards are rooted in her journey through grief and healing and she hopes others will find them relatable and useful on their paths.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Next Leadership Care Group

Join us on Oct 12 from 10am - 12pm at Unity of Nashville.

The Leadership Care Group meeting is for all those who are in leadership positions and those who are interested in becoming a leader at CSLN, including Ministers, Practitioners, Board of Trustees, Youth, Music, Volunteers, etc. This is the second monthly, in-person meeting to explore new ways of thinking about building community. As we blossom and grow, we will naturally and easily attract the right and perfect spiritual leader. First, we must get ready.

Community Workshop - Oct 13

Being in a Healthy, Thriving Community Together

In "A Purpose Driven Church", Rick Warren said that we ask the wrong question when we ask how to grow a church or center. We can't grow a center. What we can do is create a healthy organism and healthy organisms naturally grow.

In this workshop we will:

  • Discover a model of what healthy spiritual community is.
  • See how growing a center is about creating a healthy organism.
  • Uncover together where we can expand the health and vitality of CSLN to create the conditions for growth.

Join Rev. Cath DePalma for this inspiring play shop on Sunday, October 13 after our Sunday service.

Please email admin@cslnashville.org so we have an accurate count for lunch.

The Drive is On!

A couple of weeks ago, we asked for volunteers to help organize a giving drive to help Aristevi, an organization that helps women who are survivors of human trafficking. The organization, which is affiliated with St. John’s Greek Orthodox Church, the church that bought CSLN’s property, helps to educate, clothe and house the women as they begin their new lives.

We are starting our drive by collecting women’s lightly used clothes from casual to job interview attire, jewelry, shoes, bras (no used underwear). They have a large warehouse and the woman can "shop in their store ".

Our drive starts now until the end of October.

We ask you bring the clothes ON SUNDAY before or after our service, in a box if possible, so we can SEE what is donated. Unity Church graciously provided a room to store the clothes. No need to bring hangers. When you walk into church go to the left hallway. Questions? Call Becky Meagher 615-975-7000

Community Hike At Radnor Lake!

Let's get out in some nature and enjoy connection together on Saturday, Oct 12 at Noon.

Come join our community during our beautiful fall weather!

We might see Turkeys, Ducks, Deer, Squirrels, Herons, Owls, and likely some Turtles! The hike will be accommodating to the group in a slower pace as we walk and talk around the lake.

We will meet at Unity Campus and Carpool over to the nearby West Lot, Welcome Center. Parking is limited on most Saturdays.

Bring some water. Rain or Shine!

Please contact Mark Edwards to let him know you're coming.

Staffing Changes

Rekell Knight has moved from being our Office Manager to being our Communication Coordinator. Rekell will still be giving her wonderful talents to producing our newsletter, keeping our website updated, all office communications and coordinating our community gatherings.

Marylla Rosebaugh has agreed to be our Center Manager and has taken over Rekell's responsibilities and some of the areas where Lucia Coopersmith has supported the Center.

Barbara Wilson resigned as the Center bookkeeper. David Arnholter has stepped in to help the Center while we interview other candidates for the position. Thank you David for stepping up to this.

Hiring a Bookkeeper

We are accepting applications for the bookkeeper position. The position is part-time and is approximately 25 hours per month at $20 per hour. Interested applicants require bookkeeping experience, including working with Quickbooks, and the willingness to learn ADP and other financial applications. Attendance at the Center, before and after the Sunday service, is required. Additional work can be done remotely. Please submit your resume to admin@cslnashville.org.

Hospitality Volunteers Needed

We are looking for volunteers to help with hospitality on the 4th Sunday of every month. We are also looking for a hospitality coordinator. Please contact Marylla Rosebaugh if you are interested.

Online Service Chat Box Volunteers Needed

CSLN is looking for a few volunteers from our online community to moderate the YouTube chat box on Sunday mornings. This is a great opportunity for our members who prefer watching our service online to get involved and help our online viewers connect. You'll be provided some tools to get you started and can volunteer for as many Sundays per month as you like. Contact Rekell at admin@cslnashville.org if you are interested.

Participate in Spirituality and Technology Research

One of our members and Practitioners, Tonya Miller-Hire, is working on her PhD and the topic of her thesis is how technology is influencing spirituality. We can all help Tonya with her research by participating in an online survey. This will take approximately 35 minutes, can be stopped at anytime and can be anonymous. If you are interested in taking the survey, the link is below:

SPIRITUAL MIND TREATMENT

 Laima Dickens, RScP

There is only one Power and that Power is God, the Love Intelligence governing the Universe. God is all there is and is all-knowing and everywhere. This is the only Life there is, and that Life is perfect;

That perfect Life is my Life now. I am a whole, complete and perfect child of God. I know that I am one with this Perfect Power because I am an individualized expression of Spirit. This is the Spiritual Truth of who I really am. I see my Oneness with everyone on the planet and beyond.

I affirm that the one Power is everywhere present and is for my personal use. I am forever using this Power for my benefit and the benefit of others. I am the instrument through which the Life of God is lived. I realize that there are approximately 30 trillion cells in the human body, all working together for one purpose: Life. Though they have different functions, the purpose is the same. Like the cells, we are to work for the greater Good of all. I see a world that works for all. I believe in the Power for Good that is expressing through me now. As I believe this Truth, I see this Truth expressing through me and in everyone I meet.

I am very thankful to experience a world that works for everyone. And we are called to believe that it is possible. I am grateful that God gives us everything that we need, now and forever. I am overjoyed with so much gratitude for knowing who I am, and who we all are; Oneness of Spirit. I appreciate so much that everyone's inner voice knows the Truth. I am grateful to the teachings of Ernest Holmes for my greater awareness and understanding of Infinite Intelligence.

I happily release my Word to the Infinite Law of Mind in Action, knowing that my word is the Power of God. All this Good or even greater Good has already manifested in my life. It is done. And so it is!
