A Mission to Connect

Why is it so hard for funders to discover the nonprofits they want to fund? By that I mean those nonprofits that are strategically aligned with their funding mission. And, why is it so hard for nonprofits to find those eager funders?

Laura O'Rourke is on her OWN mission to find ways for funders and nonprofits to connect. Recently, Laura had the opportunity to partner with Impala, a newer company whose software aims to connect nonprofits to funders through the help of professionals like Laura. She has been "prospecting" funders such as private and family foundations since the early 1990s. Laura says that in the past 20+ years there have been many advancements in technology to streamline the "old school way," which in the deep, dark past, was scanning countless 990s (the tax forms that reveal a lot about foundations, if you know where to look).

You might have heard of Impala through some of their partnerships with various philanthropic networks, including Philanthropy Massachusetts and Jewish Funders Network. Impala has been expanding its offerings for consultants and is now working with a broad range of them, including CCS Fundraising, Amplify Partners, IQ Ignited, Laura O'Rourke Consulting (ahem!), Timberwolf Advisors, and many more. These firms are leveraging Impala's unique insights in the institutional giving space to: save time in prospect research, help their clients cultivate more strategic relationships, and drive better results on grant applications.

Laura fell in love with Impala, which she says is changing the landscape of prospecting by creating an interactive platform that analyzes dynamic data in a unique way that better informs consultants like Laura.

How does Impala do this? Join a webinar on Wednesday, October 30th at noon Eastern Time to learn how to better connect foundation funders and nonprofits. This webinar will demonstrate the key features and functionality and share some specific insight and experience for consultants. If you are thinking about enhancing your prospecting strategy (as a consultant to nonprofits, for example) or you are just interested in the latest market offering, this hour will be time well-spent! A Tip for Nonprofits: What is recurring giving? It's when a person or funder would normally make just one gift per year, but instead, he/she/it makes one smaller gift per month, electronically, which can lead to better results. Why? Read about five reasons here: What is recurring giving? A guide to recurring donations (bonterratech.com)

A Tip for Donors: Do you think the race to zero overhead (expenses) is the right way to go for nonprofits? Well, maybe you are holding nonprofits to a high (and very unrealistic) standard! What if higher expenses led to greater impact? Would you change your mind then? This movie will forever alter your perspective...click here to learn more:

A Tip for Professional Advisors: Do you find it difficult to engage your clients' kids on the topic of philanthropy? This new study finds that Gen Z and Millennials need education about charitable giving tools. Read on, dear advisor! How to Engage the Next Generation of Donors | Wealth Management
