CAN YOU PROVIDE SNACKS?

A Call-Out to all Bakers! We need your talents! Please share this with anyone and everyone you know who might be able to help.

Immac Alum and now Upstream Kelowna Coordinator, Philippa Putlitz, needs our help.

We need baked goods for our week-long Day Camp

April 27th and April 31st.

Upstream Kelowna, aimed at ending youth homeless and school disengagement, has partnered with Central Okanagan Public School’s Welcome Centre to provide school-based programs for newcomer and refugee students – and their families. This is a pilot project to initiate more school-based programs to serve our international, multi-cultural populations.

This year – We will run programs out of

KLO Middle School and Spring Valley Middle School.

We are seeking collaborators, staffing, volunteers, resources, and other support to make this happen.

1.      We will need Site Supervisors, Program Facilitators, Resources/Promotions for Community Connections, Food Suppliers

2.      We want to run Teambuilding Activities, Physical Recreation, Arts Programming, Interactive Gaming, a Parents Café/Tea Corner, and a Community Resource Corner

3.   Can you help to provide snacks?

4.      We want to highlight diverse cultures and provide access to resources and build connection within/across our community.

Contact Grant Richard at grichard@cisnd.ca or Philippa Putlitz at pputlitz@bgco.ca or 250-258-7421 to donate or for more information.

ACHIEVEMENTS

CHESSING

Some of our chess champions went down to St. Joes to play fun exhibition games with the grade 6 classes. This note came from Mrs. Hopley, “Thank you to Markus, Emrys, and Owen for taking time today to spend with our students! They were SO excited to tell me all about it when I taught them at the end of the day. They are really inspired to keep learning about the game of Chess!”

So great to see our Mustangs mentoring this way!

INTERNATIONAL NEWS

The international students had a great time learning how to curl for the very first time. Who knew that this Olympic sport could be so challenging. The students were amazed at how light you could throw the rock and how far it could go with the help of sweeping the ice. Many laughs, falls, and fun were had.

HOPE OUTREACH

THANK YOU

We had a successful mid winter drive for the outreach organisation Hope Outreach. Mr. Wilson and Mr. Mathieu delivered hats, gloves, reusable water bottles, hygiene items, protein bars, hair ties, combs and brushes to the organisation. Angie Lohr was very grateful for the items and said that all items donated will be put to good use. A special mentions goes to the Knitting and Crochet group who so kindly provided a large number of stylish head gear. Thank you for supporting this organisation. For more information speak to Mr. Mike Wilson mwilson@cisnd.ca or see https://www.hopeokanagan.com/

Please CALL the office at

250-762-2730

and leave a recorded message for Ms. Despins if your child will be absent or late.

It is very important that every student is accounted for when marked away. This will save Ms. Despins time when recording attendance.
