FIRE CPT. MIKE PHILLIPS THANKED FOR 'ABOVE & BEYOND' VOLUNTEERING

We received the sweetest note thanking Nampa Fire Captain Mike Phillips for the time he volunteered at a Courageous Kids Climbing event recently and just HAD to share:

"I just wanted to reach out to let you know about one of the best experiences we’ve ever had with your fire captain, Mike Phillips.

Today he volunteered his time to be at a climbing event for those with special needs. He was so unbelievably patient and kind with the children. He went out of his way to talk to them, including my Autistic son and explain equipment, his job, and what it means to lead a team in a way he understood and connected with.

As a single mom of a special needs child I can tell you that often our children are dismissed or rushed during these greetings, and left feeling disappointed. However, that couldn’t be farther from our experience with Mike. He truly is just an overall genuinely great human being and I don’t think you could have someone better represent the City of Nampa or firemen altogether.

I wish there was more I could say to thank him for his time today. It’s amazing to see those go out of their way and leave an impact on our children. My son thought he was the "coolest strong fire guy ever seen ever”, which if you know Liam is an amazing compliment. The moment we left he couldn’t stop talking about the day — and I knew I had to write this to let you know as a parent how special this truly was. These small interactions and moments can make a world of difference for our kids and today Mike made one happen for my son.

Hope this finds you well and is able to be forwarded to the proper places,"

-Debrah D.

We also received the letter Jeff Riechmann of Courageous Kids Climbing sent to Nampa Fire Chief Kirk Carpenter and we have his permission to share it with you if you'd like to read it!
