The Nevada Key Club members do a service project during one of their 25-minute meetings. Members are so busy outside of school that it is hard for them to do out-of-school projects. So a couple of years ago, the members started doing one a month at a meeting.
The monthly service projects have been a great way for students to give and those meetings typically have the highest attendance.
Last month, the project was tie blankets for the Nevada Fire Department. These will be used during emergency calls.
The Fire Department expressed its gratitude for the project with a post on its Facebook page.
“We have such respect for the Nevada High School Key Club. Teaching young adults there is a bigger world than themselves always pays off. Today they donated hand-crafted blankets to our Lt. Ray Beaty to support medical calls. Imagine on a day like today being trapped in a wrecked car. Having a warm and loving hand-crafted blanket to keep you protected while being rescued are the little things we want our patients to have,” the department posted.
