A Message from Pastor Sara

Before we jump to quickly to the joy of Easter, we must linger here a little longer. On this Good Friday, you are receiving this at 12 noon. From Matthew 27:45: From noon on, darkness came over the whole land....

Song of the Winding Sheet For Good Friday

We never
would have wished it
to come to this,
yet we call
these moments holy
as we hold you.

Holy the tending,
holy the winding,
holy the leaving,
as in the living.

Holy the silence,
holy the stillness,
holy the turning
and returning to earth.

Blessed is the One
who came
in the name,

blessed is the One
who laid
himself down,

blessed is the One
emptied for us,
blessed is the One
wearing the shroud.

Holy the waiting,
holy the grieving,
holy the shadows
and gathering night

Holy the darkness,
holy the hours,
holy the hope
turning toward light.
—Jan Richardson
“Song of the Winding Sheet” appears in Jan's book Circle of Grace: A Book of Blessings for the Seasons.

See you for worship tonight onsite and online at 7pm as we linger here just a little longer in this holy time before the joy of Easter Sunday at 6 am (at Davidsonville UMC: 819 West Central Avenue, Davidsonville outside at the green cathedral) or 9:30 am onsite or online at Joy Reigns.

PS: Stick around for some post worship resurrection fun Easter Sunday after the 9:30 am worship with an egg hunt on the side yard.

God's Peace,
Pastor Sara

PRAYERS

United in the hope and joy of the resurrection, let us pray for the church, the world, and all in need.

You call your church to WITNESS to your salvation. We give thanks for all theologians, preachers, and teachers who proclaim your gospel. Equip all the baptized to share the joy of the resurrection in all we say and do.

You bring abundant life throughout CREATION. The green blade rises, and all creation greets the resurrection dawn. Preserve vineyards and orchards and those who tend to them. Feed us with the fruits of creation.

You show your steadfast love without regard to borders, barriers, or human made divisions. Infuse your JUSTICE in every nation of the world that all experience the peace that only you can give.

You anointed your Son with the Holy Spirit and with power. Encourage us by his example in our ministries of HEALING, care, and outreach. We pray for all who are sick or hospitalized and for healthcare workers who care for them.

You have put gladness in our hearts. Inspire musicians to rejoice with the songs of victory. Bless the music ministries of this congregation and all who foster our assembly's song.

Rejoicing in the victory of Christ's redirection, we lift our prayers and praise to you, almighty and eternal God; through Jesus Christ, our risen Lord.
