Dear Cromwell Community Members, 

The Design Development phase was completed last month. This package was used to create the project’s next estimate. The updated estimate will be presented to the building committee this week on April 5. The Town Council will also hold a Special Meeting to discuss the project and next steps. The meeting will be held Thursday, April 6 at 6 p.m. The building project is currently paused pending this meeting. 

The committee and Perkins Eastman have worked diligently to identify value management options to bring the total project cost down while maintaining the educational programming laid out in the building’s educational specifications. The town will need to determine how to move forward if the estimates continue to be more than the appropriated $58.6 million budget. One option could be a second referendum to appropriate the difference. Stay up to date on all of this activity through the Committee’s Facebook page and following Town Council meetings. 

Community Forum

The committee held a virtual community update on March 22 with Perkins Eastman and provided a presentation about the project which highlighted the STEAM features of the building and answered questions from the community.
