Amazing Grace – Lent 2023

In honor of the 250th anniversary of the writing of “Amazing Grace,” this worship series for Lent, by theologian Michael Hoy, ties the words of the beloved song to our lives today as Christ’s disciples. Those in the Bible who experienced the amazing grace of God help us each week to realize that though we once were lost in sin, we now have been found by Jesus, and though we once were blind to God’s mercy, we now can see his love at work in us, through our Savior’s death and resurrection.

We will be offering services each Wednesday throughout Lent, at 11 AM and 7:30 PM, with soup and salad offered before each evening service, beginning at 6:30 - 7:25 PM.

This week, March 22 (Week 4) • The Blind Man (John 9:24): We witness Jesus bringing sight to a man born blind, giving the man the added spiritual vision to see the amazing grace of God found in Jesus, who heals us all.

March 15th - The soup choices are: Taco soup, Italian Wedding soup, Chili, and Chicken and Rice soup

We are still in need of a lay reader for our 11 AM service on March 29th. Please sign up below.

Outreach Committee has coin boxes available to collect loose change to help fund some of the delinquent lunch accounts at Clark Creek Elementary School. Pick up your box at the Welcome Desk and collect your coins throughout Lent.

I will be a lay reader for March 29th at 11 AM

Altar Guild Refresher Training

Have you ever wondered why the church does certain things at different times of the year? What is the significance of the liturgical colors to be used on certain days? What about the Pascal candle? When is it lit? Why do we strip the altar on Maundy Thursday?

Whether you are new to this ministry, are curious or have served for many years, come join us to discuss the role of the Altar Guild at GSLC on Tuesday, March 28th, at 11 AM.

Contact Monica Smith or the church office, if you are interested in learning more about this ministry.

Church Banners

We are searching for someone to take over the banner ministry of the church. This involves following the liturgical calendar, coordinating with pastor and worship and music and placing the correct banners in place for worship. If interested, please attend the Altar Guild refresher event listed above or contact Pam Hough. We would also like to thank Sharon Bost, for her many years of service in this role.
