I-CONNECT "HIDDEN BHS WALKING TOUR"

Discover Bellevue High Behind the Scenes

Join the “Hidden BHS Walking Tour” to get a behind-the-scenes look at Bellevue High

School during the next I-Connect meeting. We’ll gain special access to locations

normally hidden from view. We’ll learn about the school’s inner workings from the people who managed its construction and oversee its operations. Beginning with a brief introductory slide show, we’ll take an historic look at the buildings BHS occupied over its 100 years of existence. The tour begins in the library on Friday, October 27 at 8:15a.m., and runs until 9:45 a.m. All parents and caregivers are welcome.

Wear comfortable shoes, and dress for the weather. This tour will take place rain or shine and include outdoor sites. Whether you like to explore, you appreciate architecture, or you’re simply curious about the place where your student spends the day, this will be a fun and informative walkabout.

What is I-Connect? Bellevue High PTSA proudly sponsors the I-Connect program. I-Connect meetings are informative monthly gatherings that provide an opportunity for parents/guardians to meet and network with others in our school community. Attend one meeting or several; the choice is yours.

FIRST MULTI-LANGUAGE PRINCIPAL COFFEE

Topic: School Support and Tools for Students and Parents

When: Friday, October 20, 8:15 am – 9:45 am

Where: BHS Library 

Please join us to meet other parents and learn important information about high school.

In this 1st MLPC of 2023-2024 school year, Dr. Vic Anderson will present overall school support for students and parents. This will include BHS support staffs, support service for students, tools such as Naviance and Synergy, how to communicate with teachers, and so on.

Interpreters will be available for Chinese-Mandarin, Japanese, and Korean languages.

STAFF APPRECIATION EVENT OCT 18

Our PTSA is hosting a homecoming staff appreciation lunch on Wednesday, October 18th. We are looking for a few volunteers to help make this event a success. Please sign up here to volunteer.

WOLVERINE GUARD

Wolverine Guard (WG) is a Bellevue High PTSA sponsored award that recognizes students who perform 100+ hours of community service in the 12-month period from May 1st to April 30th of each school year. Each student who reports 100 or more approved hours will earn the Wolverine Guard Community Service Award. During the last school year, WG had 98 Bellevue High students earn a Wolverine Guard certificate for the 2022-2023 school year!

• ALL BHS students from 9-12 grades are eligible for WG should they meet the requirements.
• Students who earn WG in at least two of their four years at BHS will qualify for a WG Blue/Gold Honor Cord at graduation; students with 4 years of service at BHS will be awarded the WG Distinction Community Service Award.
• Application must include volunteer time logs, log forms should be detailed and with signed signatures from volunteer coordinators.
• Volunteering is done through a non-profit organization (usually a 501c3 organization).
• The PTSA WG program is separate from the Bellevue School District volunteer hours requirement for graduation. We DO NOT coordinate with Naviance and will only accept Wolverine Guard time logs.

Application is due midnight on April 30th, 2024. No late application will be accepted!

Reflections is a National PTA arts recognition program that helps students explore their own thoughts, feelings and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence, and find a love for learning that will help them become more successful not only in school, but in life.

The theme for the 2023-2024 program year is “I Am Hopeful Because…” Students submit their completed works of art in one or all of the available arts categories: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, Visual Arts. 

Deadline for submitting student entries is Monday, November 13, 2023, 6 PM.

• SENIORS: University of Washington Application Workshop, Wednesday 10/18 1:15 – 2:45 in the library. UW admission rep Yvonne Chiu will walk you through each piece of the UW application. No registration, just come to the library 10/18 @ 1:15. (flyer attached)

THE GOODWILL TRUCK IS COMING TO BELLEVUE HIGH SCHOOL ON SATURDAY October 21^st.

Help the Bellevue High School Band Boosters raise money by cleaning out your closets and garage. Goodwill is bringing a truck to BHS on Saturday, October 21st to accept donations of used goods. Normally, Goodwill does not pay when you donate your stuff, but they have a special program for schools. The more trucks we can fill, the more money to support the Bellevue High Band (and you'll get a donation tax receipt). 

You can bring almost everything (OLD TVs, COMPUTERS, SMALL ELECTRONICS, RIPPED CLOTHING, BROKEN TOYS, etc. - what Goodwill can’t sell to the public, they sell to scrap dealers). FOOTBALL GAME DATE CHANGE - V. LWHS

We have had to move our football game scheduled for Friday Oct. 13^th to Thursday Oct. 12^th at 7:00pm. Due to lack of official crews for the conference, this change has been made.

Friday is a professional development/non-school day for students so this is still likely to be a Friday night atmosphere.

ImPACT Test Dates for the BHS 2023/24 Sports Seasons:

No registration needed, just show up – the impact test takes approximately 30 – 45 minutes.

Students will need their BSD laptops for ImPACT testing.

ImPACT Testing will begin at 2:00pm at Bellevue High School – Lower Aux/North Gym – Room 0302
