April 6, 2022

Dear friends,

This week marks the confluence of holy days in three religious traditions: Holy Week in Christianity, Passover in Judaism, and Ramadan in Islam. As people of faith throughout the world mark these days through different practices — fasting and feasting, contemplative reflection, and boisterous celebration — we are reminded of the faith journeys into which we are invited by our traditions and the ways in which those journeys draw us more deeply into the work at hand.

For Christians, today is the beginning of the Easter Triduum, where we follow through the last days of Jesus' life, from his final meal with friends, through the suffering and torture of his death, into the silence of the unknowing, and finally to the release and joy of resurrection. It is a journey that is echoed in countless ways throughout our lives. And, as we grapple with this climate-changed world, it is a journey which offers us frameworks of grief, longing, hope, lament, and celebration.

As you move through these holy days, in whatever way you observe, we are holding you all as part of our community. And as we honor this contemplative time, we look forward to a spring filled with opportunities for moving more deeply in our journeys together.

Coming in these next weeks, we invite you to join us for Lament with Earth on April 20 — a place to name grief and find solace in community. We also have a wonderful in-person opportunity with a Wonder and Wander at Tir na nOg Farm in Pownal, Maine (the first in a three-part series), our EcoSpiritual Leaders course, or one of our Group Spiritual Direction Circles for clergy and other spiritual leaders, as well as our second annual Spiritual Direction for a Climate-Changed World gathering in May.

We wish you a blessed Easter, and rest and rejuvenation in the days to come.

With best wishes,

The BTS Center Team
