A Message from the Founders

OCTOBER NEWS

Happy Fall, although with 90+ degree weather, it still feels like summer! But kids are back to school, vacations have ended, and it’s back to getting focused and setting new goals. This year is going by so quickly. The Get Together Foundation is back at it.. our programs are in full swing. Take a look below at the latest program news. We hope to see you at our winter charity concert at Club Louie’s on December 8th. Please put this on your calendar. Details forthcoming. --Kevin & Mare Wachs, Co-Founders

Program Highlights

"Together in Tune"

Our wonderful music program resumed at North Valley Caring Services, the Camarillo YMCA, the Boys & Girls Club of Burbank & Greater East Valley, and the Boys & Girls Club West Valley. Thanks to our awesomely talented teachers willing to give their time to work with kids of all ages from Kindergarten through High School.

Classes range from learning guitar, recorder, ukulele, and percussion to sing alongs an simple music games and experiences. The main idea is to offer kids opportunities to experience all things music. From this comes growth in their socialization skills, sharing, self expression, confidence building, and a chance to communicate non-verbally

Crisis Relief

GTF continues its Hand-Wash Kit Program, started during COVID, which actually serves a dual purpose. We love our volunteers from Tierra del Sol, who come every week to assemble supply boxes and get them ready for pick-up. They and a few other groups come each week to drop off finished boxes of kits and pick up new supply boxes. This program is now in its fifth year, and is still going strong. We continue to supply boxes of kits to The Midnight Mission, the Pico Union Project, New Friends Homeless Center, and Cornerstone on a regular basis.

Also, each month Chef Mare & Charlie prepare and deliver a large quantity of food which we give to North Valley Caring Services food bank to distribute to unsheltered homeless individuals.

Arts & Crafts

Heather & Katrina continue their monthly visit to The Woodlands family shelter in Woodland Hills providing fun and creative Arts & Crafts classes for the kids. Last month they made birdhouses!

Thanks to all our volunteers who help us keep our programs going.

Save the Date: Sunday, December 8th for our Annual Holiday Show with the Tribe at Louie's.
