Grace is hosting Family Promise - 2 signups!

"When I host, one of the most common things I hear in my conversations with the guests is how Grace is one of their top host churches in hospitality and comfort." - Chris Sherk

What a blessing to be a place where families feel welcome, safe, and comfortable! Every 7 weeks, we are opening our doors to families in need of a home. We provide dinner, soft beds, clean bathrooms, a living room, and the certainty that there is a place for them each night. We invite you to join us as we do this ministry work!

Grace will be hosting Family Promise NEXT WEEK, October 6-13th. You can click HERE to sign up! We currently still need:

-Evening Hosts for Sunday, Wednesday, Friday, & Saturday

-Overnight Hosts for Wednesday

We could also use a few more hands for setup and tear down.

Grace is also hosting in November, from Sunday the 24th through December 1st. This is Thanksgiving week, so we are starting signups now! While Thanksgiving can be a busy time with family and food, it's also a great opportunity for us to give back in kind in thanks for all we have. Please consider taking on a role during Thanksgiving week, to ensure that our guests will also have a Happy Thanksgiving!

You can click HERE to sign up for Nov 24-Dec 1.

Thank you for supporting this ministry!

If you have questions, please contact Pr. Rachel or a member of the Outreach Committee.

Our Grace Picnic was a great success!!!

Over 110 members gathered together for BBQ and fellowship!

Big Thank You's go to:

-The Parish Life Committee, and chairperson Adele Evans for planning, putting on, and cleaning up the event!

-Walker & Frances Stockley and their BBQ team for an excellent meal!

-All members who brought desserts - we had a delicious buffet of options!

-Bob Goodbar for taking directory photos!

-Everyone who joined us and shared in a great time!

Welcome, Lange Family!

We welcome the Lange family to the Grace family! Chris, (Summerville, SC) and Austin (Hopkins, SC) met while art majors at Winthrop. After graduation, Chris earned a Master’s in Arts Administration (Winthrop) and Austin earned a Master’s in Creative Writing (Converse).

Chris is currently the Art in Transit Program Administrator for the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS), working to place art in and around Charlotte’s public transportation system. Chris enjoys green woodworking (whittling), baking breads (mostly sourdough), photography, and was an accomplished skateboarder in his earlier years.

Austin is an adjunct English professor at Winthrop and York Tech.

In addition to teaching, Austin is a talented writer and excited to be working on her first book! She’s not ready to share the details just yet but stay tuned! She also enjoys making soy candles and blends of hand-mixed bath salts for her small business, Hush Eden (check it out on Instagram & Facebook). Having an interest in conservation and outdoor native plants, Austin enjoys volunteering with the National Park Systems, especially the Congaree National Park.

In 2022, Chris and Austin became proud parents to daughter, Mickie, now 2 ½, who loves books and animals, especially their two dogs and three chickens. They enjoy reading, camping, hiking, gardening, and cooking. You may have met Chris and Austin at Baker Farm (Allen and Sarah Lowrance) during the Ag & Art tours.

Chris and Austin love the welcoming atmosphere and community at Grace and look forward to becoming more involved through volunteer opportunities and youth related activities as Mickie gets older.

Calling all plant people!

You may have noticed the beautiful potted plants that fill our Cremains Garden and bring joy into this space.

These will not survive the winter outside and we need folks to take them home to help keep them alive for next season. If anyone has a sunroom or a large sunlit window, please let us know if you can plant-sit over the winter! We need homes for these plants by October 6.

Please contact the church office or Pam and Floyd Ritchie!

Share a Meal with WELCM

You are invited to support Campus Ministry by providing a meal for one of our weekly gatherings!

Meals are still needed for Oct 8 and Nov 19.

Sign up HERE or fill out the sign-up sheet in the Fellowship Hall. The meals (and the leftovers students can take home) mean a lot to the WELCM participants.
