Questions?

Thank you for attending our November Office Hours!

Thank you for attending our Office Hours on November 19th and 20th. We received positive feedback on having two days at two different times of day. We'll continue with this model to help meet your different schedules. As always, these are voluntary opportunities to learn, share, and connect with others who are doing the impactful work that you are.

In the month of January, we'll continue to have two Office Hours. Feel free to drop in, arrive late, leave early, attend both, or attend neither. These are here for you!

Below is a data slide that we shared:

  • Voluntary student sessions have increased from 25% to 33%!
  • Initial visits have increased by 213%!
  • Lastly, MLMQ enrollment have increased by 163%!

Also, take a look at the Student Feedback slides. Their shares are super powerful!

Q & A

Q - Should I complete and submit the Daily Tracking Form every week, even if I don't see any students?

A - Yes, the weekly submission lets us know what's happening.

Q - The Daily Tracking Form asks for the Number of Appointments Not Kept? Who do I count for this?

A - Any student who does NOT attend their session should be counted here. The students not attending may be from: school absence, can't leave class, or chose not to attend. After entering the number, you can then elaborate in the Narrative section to clarify the absences. For reporting purposes, this will let us know the number of students not attending and why.

Treatment Tips & More

Tips:

  • The purpose of helping students enroll in MLMQ is to remove a barrier, so that they have easy access late at night or on the weekend when they need additional support. Students can choose to go in and interact with MLMQ independently, or they can reach out to a MLMQ Coach.
  • If your students are 18 or older, you can refer them to the Maine QuitLink. They can access online or phone support. In addition, they can receive free Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT): nicotine patches, nicotine gum, and nicotine lozenges.

Points to Ponder:

  • Any time a student shares that they want to cut back or quit congratulate them on their decision. If their strategy needs a little tweaking, ask them if you can share some information with them. This acknowledges the student's decision and helps them on their journey.

Motivational Quotes:

“Follow your passion. Stay true to yourself. Never follow someone else’s path unless you’re in the woods and you’re lost, and you see a path. By all means, you should follow that.” -Ellen DeGeneres

“What is the bravest thing you've ever said? asked the boy. 'Help,' said the horse. 'Asking for help isn't giving up,' said the horse. 'It's refusing to give up.” -Charlie Mackesy

Ideas to Share

Check out the new poster we'll be mailing to you. It speaks more to the teens we're working with and acknowledges they may not be ready to quit.

If you're looking for a certificate to recognize students for their hard work, you can find one under our Resources.

Do you have an idea, picture, or quote to share? If so, you can send it to Celena.Ranger@mainehealth.org
