GOOD FRIDAY & THE GREAT VIGIL
Holy Week Away from Home
If you find yourself unable to get to Saint Paul’s this Holy Week, for whatever reason, go to the nearest Episcopal Church! Or if there isn’t one, go to another church that will let you receive communion. But, at times there are logistical or psychological reasons why we can’t make it to an assembly—this packet is meant for those circumstances. Please take these resources with great
freedom. Adapt them, omit parts, add parts. It might be helpful to have a Book of Common Prayer (the whole text is available online here) and a Bible (also available online) on hand.
The Good Friday Offering
On Good Friday, offerings are invited from across The Episcopal Church to support for the ministries of the three dioceses of the Province of Jerusalem and the Middle East. Pastoral care, education and health care continue to be primary ministries through which the reconciling spirit of the Christian faith serves all in need. The generous donations of Episcopalians help the Christian presence in the Land of the Holy One to be a vital and effective force for peace and understanding among all of God’s children. To make a donation, please make your check payable to Saint Paul’s Church and write “Good Friday Offering” on the memo line.

The Great Vigil of Easter
Saturday, April 8, 7:30 PM
The Great Vigil is the culmination of Holy Week and begins in darkness. We light the new fire outside and carry it by candlelight into the church, sharing it with neighbors to hear the stories of God’s relentless love. Then as we welcome Easter with the first celebration of the Resurrection, we celebrate baptism and renew our own baptismal vows. This unique service is the height of the church’s year of grace.
