Hello!

I am pleased to be your President for the 2023/2024 fiscal year, and it is an honour to serve our membership in this capacity. This is my 7th year on the board, with previous roles including Vice President, Programming Chair and Membership Chair.

Our 2023/2024 year is well underway having hosted two in-person luncheons, a candidate networking night and attended a career fair at the University of Manitoba. We have many more events in-store for our members this fiscal year and we will look to build on last year’s record-setting attendance at our Annual Golf Tournament and Forecast Dinner.

CFA Institute is also undergoing some exciting changes this upcoming year. February 2024 will mark the first Level III exam to be held with the new Specialized Pathways which allows candidates to select a focus topic for their exam (Portfolio Management, Private Markets or Private Wealth). The CFA Institute is also launching new certificates in Data Science, Private Markets and Climate Finance to complement the ESG Certificate. Also be on the look out for a CFA brand refresh coming soon!

CFA Candidates and University Students are invited to join us on Tuesday, October 17th as we host a virtual discussion on Careers in Finance and Interview Tips with Ela Karahasanoglu, MBA, CFA, CAIA (Co-head, Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association – Toronto Chapter), Esther Zurba (Director, Castle Hall Diligence), and Sabrine Sanon (MSc Corporate Finance Candidate, EDHEC Business School). This discussion will be moderated by James Burron, CAIA (Co-Founder & Partner, Canadian Association of Alternative Strategies and Assets).
