The Children's Trust Holiday Payments

The Children’s Trust family wishes everyone a safe and happy holiday season and our best wishes for the New Year! Please note that we will operate at a limited capacity from December 26 through January 1. 

With this limited capacity, we want to ensure providers receive timely payments. For this to happen, your invoice must be approved by December 17, requiring submission before the regular due date. Please submit a complete invoice immediately to guarantee a payment before the holiday break. Please take the time to review them carefully so they are without errors. Regular payments will resume the week of January 6, 2025.

The Children's Trust's Releases School-Based Health RFP

The Children’s Trust, in collaboration with the Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) and the Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County (DOH - Miami-Dade), will continue to fund a comprehensive school-based health initiative that increases access to health and wellness services for children and families. The approach involves nursing and mental health professional services and community referrals that promote a healthy school environment intended to identify, prevent and/or remedy student health problems. In addition, telehealth services will be integrated to provide remote access to medical consultations and mental health support, ensuring that students receive care regardless of location.

This is a competitive request for proposals (RFP) solicitation open to current school health providers and other community health providers qualified to perform school-based health services.

AYUDA, Inc.'s Teenagers are Lifelong Learners Program

This week, we are featuring AYUDA, Inc. and its Trust-funded after-school enrichment program called TALL (Teenagers are Lifelong Learners). TALL is a program that serves at-risk middle and high school-aged youth, including youth with disabilities at City of Miami Beach Parks. The goal of the program is to improve the lives of its participants through academic support, social-emotional learning, arts and culture, sports and STEM classes. TALL helps prepare students for the world at large while empowering and inspiring them to believe that they can make a difference in the world. The Office of Neighborhood Safety (ONS) is proud to present another round of Safe in the 305, a Miami-Dade County Peace & Prosperity Plan initiative. Invite Your Students to Enter All Kids Included Art Competition *

The Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs All Kids Included (AKI) program is inviting all Miami-Dade students in grades Pre-K-12 to submit original artwork depicting the competition theme and are asked to draw on the competition's selected book for inspiration. The theme for 2025 is inspired by the book, I Will Dance written by Nancy Bo Flood and illustrated by Julianna Swaney. Eligibility is open to all Miami-Dade students in grades Pre-K-12. Award Ceiling: $250 Blick Art Supply Card. Deadline to submit artwork is February 1, 2025.

Maternal and Child Health Secondary Data Analysis Research Grants Available *

U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) (MCH SDAR) Maternal and Child Health Secondary Data Analysis Research grants are available to support research that analyzes existing national data sets or administrative records to answer questions that can improve the health and well-being of Maternal and Child Health (MCH) populations, including children and adolescents with Autism/Developmental Disabilities (DD). Eligibility is limited to nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education; Native American tribal organizations (other than Federally recognized tribal governments); and public or non-profit institutions of higher learning (i.e., education) and public or private non-profit agencies engaged in research or in programs relating to maternal and child health and/or services for children with special health care needs. Award Ceiling: $60,000. Applications must be submitted by February 25, 2025.

Autism Secondary Data Analysis Research Grants Available *

U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Autism Secondary Data Analysis Research (Autism SDAR) grants are available to support applied research through analysis of existing databases or administrative records to improve health outcomes, and the quality, efficiency, and accessibility of health care services for children and adolescents with autism and other developmental disabilities (DD) across the lifespan. Eligibility is limited to city, township, county, special district, and state governments; Native American tribal governments and organizations; independent school districts; private, public, and state-controlled institutions of higher education; for-profit organizations; small businesses; and any public or private entity, including research centers or networks. Applications must be submitted by February 25, 2025.

Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Innovative Research to Advance Racial Equity *

The purpose of this program is to support research to evaluate specific interventions (e.g., policies, programs, practices) that have the potential to counteract the harms of structural and systemic racism and improve health, well-being, and equity outcomes. Eligibility is limited to nonprofit and for-profit organizations based in the United States or its territories. Deadline to submit application is Dec. 5, 2025.

The Life Time Kids Run Miami program is entering its 20th year, and the program hopes to welcome students to be a part of the action! The Life Time Kids Run Miami program encourages children and middle school students, ages 6-13, to run 25.2 miles over 15 weeks, culminating at the Life Time Miami Marathon & Half presented by FP Movement (February 2, 2025) with the Final Mile event where all participants will earn their own medal!

Complimentary to Miami-Dade County schools, the Life Time Kids Run Miami program aims to help reduce the health risks and conditions that kids face today by promoting physical education and an active lifestyle through running, and it is their goal to involve as many children as possible from start to finish.

Our Site Directors manage and oversee program and site operations for our school-year and summer programs at one of Breakthrough Miami’s seven host school sites, leading the recruitment, management, and development of Scholars, Volunteers, and Teaching Fellows. Site Directors ensure program fidelity, spirit, and culture, advancing Breakthrough Miami’s mission and goals. Advancing the model of an embedded service-learning partnership, Directors build supportive relationships with students, parents, schools, the community, and other stakeholders to build a rigorous, fun, and supportive learning environment for Scholars, Volunteers, and Teaching Fellows to develop as life-long learners, leaders, and changemakers.

Assistant Site Director: Responsible for efficiently and effectively delivering programs and services directly affecting Breakthrough Miami Scholars and families. An ASD oversees campus or site logistics, unpaid student volunteers, and some stipended positions, such as Teaching Fellows. As an ambassador of the program, the ASD builds supportive relationships with students, parents, schools, the community, and other stakeholders to ensure the academic and socio-enrichment success of all Breakthrough Scholars. 

Director of High School Programs: Responsible for planning and implementing programming for Breakthrough Miami’s high school students to ensure they are prepared for academic success in high school and successfully transition to college. The Director will work closely with students and families as they navigate the high school years and hold students to high academic and community standards. During the school year, the Director will plan Saturday programming, monitor academic progress, set goals for inside and outside the classroom, and navigate school and other community resources to ensure students stay on track for college. 

Summer Instructional Coaches: Summer Instructional Coaches (ICs) are experienced and successful professional educators who provide content specific support for BTM Teaching Fellows throughout the summer and engage fully in the BTM community. ICs dictate the level of academic rigor during Breakthrough Miami’s summer program through their interactions with Teaching Fellows. They effectively communicate content specifics to Teaching Fellows, guide Fellows through effective planning and execution, and hold both Fellows and students to the highest standards. ICs are expected to lead department meetings, visit Fellows’ classes at least twice a week, evaluate lesson plans and curriculum overviews, and meet individually with Fellows regarding their on-going work. Since ICs are the only professional teachers on-site, they are accountable for the quality of instruction students receive, and are responsible for supporting BTM Teaching Fellows through their teaching experiences. This position will begin on June 7, 2025 and will end on August 1, 2025.

Summer Site Coordinators: Summer Site Coordinators (SSCs) are critical members of the summer administrative team and help ensure the smooth and safe operations of the Summer Institute at their assigned site. SSCs train, coordinate and oversee volunteers; supervise the summer food service program for Scholars and staff; order and keep an inventory of program supplies; coordinate general office administration; manage the Scholar drop off and pick up process; and assist with the execution of special events. This position will begin on June 7, 2025 and will end on August 1, 2025.

Summer Assistant Site Directors: Summer Assistant Site Directors (SASDs) work collaboratively with full-time directors at their assigned site to ensure a successful Summer Institute; and work closely with Scholars and their families, as well as Teaching Fellows to ensure their needs are met. SASDs assist with the coordination and management of student attendance and reporting; management of student information in the Breakthrough Miami student database; student discipline and conduct; Teaching Fellow training and professional development; implementation of the Teaching Assistant program; preparation of major events, including Visitors Day, Family Night, and other events as scheduled; and program evaluations during the final ten days of programming. This position will begin on June 7, 2025 and will end on August 1, 2025.
