A Prayer for Peace Among the Nations (BCP 816)

Let us pray in this time of conflict for the countries of Russia and the Ukraine,

Almighty God our heavenly Father, guide the nations of the world

into the way of justice and truth, and establish among them

that peace which is the fruit of righteousness,

that they may become the kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Amen.

ANNUAL MEETING

Annual Meeting

Our parish Annual Meeting will be held on Sunday, January 22, 2023 following our liturgy (approximately 10:30).

It is important that members of the parish attend. Please plan on staying and attending our Annual Meeting. A continental breakfast will be served.

One piece of important business to conduct at the Annual Meeting is the election of members to our St. John’s Parish Vestry.

This year:

The term held by Tom Brzeczek will end. Tom is eligible and has agreed to run for another 3 year term.

The term held by Bill Cheney will end. Bill is eligible and has agreed to run for another 3 year term.

The term held by David Dennehy will end. According to our Bylaws, David is not eligible to run for another term.

Jeff Bates has been nominated and has agreed to run for David’s open seat on vestry.

Please see Jeff’s short biography and statement of favor.

Click here for Jeff Bates Biography

We will vote on these nominees for vestry.

In the gospel from John, this coming Sunday, Jesus asks his disciples a question and offers an invitation. First, “What are you looking for?” Then second, the invitation, “Come and see.”

I ask you the same question, “What are you looking for?” Or in other words, with regard to our parish family, what do you long for, what do you hope for, or what do you want to see happen? I want to hear your answers.

Then, I invite you to come and see: come along with us and let's see how our hopes and dreams and yearnings might be fulfilled.

I look forward to the coming year with much hope and excitement.

Peace,

"We Believe..." EDSD Collaborative Confirmation

By: Charlette Preslar, Director of Formation

Confirmation programs are a profoundly moving and connective experience. When infants and young children are baptized, their parents and godparents promise to nurture them in faith and commit them to the way of Jesus--a life characterized by prayer, service, justice, forgiveness, and love. At confirmation, teenagers are invited to choose this way for themselves. Even youth who do not choose to be confirmed come out of the program profoundly changed.

And yet every journey would be richer with companions on the road. Peers to walk with, laugh with, and share the work, shape the experience and make the challenging days more bearable. Read More
