We do that by EXPERIENCING, EMBRACING, AND EXTENDING
God's love.
There are three ways to give to the mission of Christ Church:

Rm. 31 of Education Bldg. or by Zoom link here
Meeting ID: 878 4884 3240 Password: 510649
What is gratitude? Is it simply feelings or is it feelings and actions? Do humans ever experience gifts given or received as indiscriminate and unconditional? These are just a few of the questions Diana Butler Bass addresses in the first chapter, "Feeling Grateful", of her book. This class searches for answers to these questions and participants pose more questions. This session begins Sunday at 9:15 AM in Room 31 of the Education Building or by Zoom. Dick Hooper and David Starling facilitate the conversation.
"Pouring into Our Parents" (POP)

This class, Pouring into Our Parents (POP), meets at 9:30 AM in the Library on the second floor of the Christian Education building. The class will begin with a series on what a gospel-centered parent looks like. Discussions and readings hit on family codes, discipline, trust, times of suffering, hope, and grace.

CHORAL EVENSONG
Sunday, January 29 ~ 5:00 PM with Recital-Prelude at 4:15 PM
On Sunday, January 29 at 5:00 PM, the Christ Church choir will sing Choral Evensong, one of the oldest and most beautiful liturgies in the Anglican tradition. Music will include Anglican Chant; works by James MacMillan, Charles Villiers Stanford, and Malcolm Boyle; and hymns. Choral Evensong will be preceded by a 4:15 PM recital-prelude by Florida State University saxophonist Dawson Coleman and collaborative pianist and organist Elizabeth LaJeunesse, featuring Steven Banks’ recent work for tenor saxophone and piano, Come As You Are. Steven Banks, a classical musician, viewed the writing of this four-movement work as a way “to bring together different facets of [his] own life experience.” Banks grew up in the AME church, often playing his saxophone on hymns, and chose to draw from the musical traditions of his upbringing as inspiration for this work. Each movement is based on either a traditional Spiritual or a song from the Black Gospel tradition, and the movements are titled after lyrics from the well-known anthem “Total Praise.” The program will also include two movements from Andre Waignein’s Rhapsody for Alto Saxophone. Rhapsody was commissioned by the Adolphe Sax Competition to be premiered in the final round at the 2010 competition in Dinant, Belgium, and showcases and explores both the technical prowess and expressive nature of the saxophone. The second movement of this piece is a lyrical, nostalgic song meant to showcase the tone quality and musicianship of the performer. The final movement is a lively tarantella dance that displays the technical facility and vast tessitura of the saxophone. The Closing Voluntary for the service of choral evensong will be a transcription for alto saxophone and organ of Bach’s Sinfonia from Cantata 29. Choral Evensong will be followed by a wine-and-cheese reception in the Parish Hall hosted by the Brotherhood of St. Andrew. Freewill donations will benefit the Christ Church Music Program.

Classes will be held on Sundays from 9:30-10:15 AM in the Parlor beginning Sunday, February 5. To sign up for classes, please e-mail Kelly Heindl, Parish Secretary, by Friday, February 3. ALTAR FLOWER DEDICATIONS
Each week our worship service is enhanced with beautiful fresh flowers. After the Sunday services, the altar flower arrangements are reworked into smaller arrangements. These arrangements are delivered to members of our parish family that are unable to attend a Sunday service. The altar flowers are a memorial, a thanksgiving for an anniversary, a birthday, a new birth, or a thanksgiving for God's blessings. The donation is listed in the weekly bulletin. Forms to participate in this ministry are available here and on the information table in the Parish Office.
