Midland Streetscape Project Update August 16, 2023

REMINDER: NIGHT WORK TAKING PLACE

TONIGHT AND TOMORROW

MIDLAND AVENUE & MIDLAND SPUR INTERSECTION NIGHT CLOSURES

August 16 at 6 p.m. – August 17 at 7 a.m.

August 17 at 6 p.m. – August 18 at 7 a.m.

Open Thursday, August 17 7 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Midland Avenue at the intersection with Midland Spur to Alpine Bank will be closed to all through traffic for two 13-hour periods during nighttime only.  Closures will occur from Wednesday, August 16 starting at 6 p.m. in the evening through Thursday, August 17 at 7 a.m. and again from Thursday, August 17 starting at 6 p.m. in the evening through Friday, August 18 at 7 a.m. Access to downtown Midland Avenue will be via Cottonwood Drive to Riverside Drive or Homestead Drive during the overnight closure.  Local access only will be available to Midland Spur residents. See map here or link on photo above.

During the day on Thursday in between the two night work periods, access to Midland Avenue will be open.  Pedestrian access will be available during both day and night work. On Friday morning, access will be restored.

The night closures are meant to expedite the installation of a new waterline across a heavily travelled intersection.  Completing the work during two uninterrupted 13-hour timeframes avoids up to six days of daytime work and associated traffic delays.

Once the overnight work is completed, regular construction hours of 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday will be in effect while the waterline installation continues through the fall along the south side of Midland Avenue from Alpine Bank to Homestead Drive.
