A Note From Rev. Alex

Dear Ones:

This is a heavy week. With great sorrow, I write to notify you that our beloved member Bob Hicks died this morning. He was 76 years old.

Bob was a wonderful, loving, and gentle spirit. He and his wife Shelley shared a deep passion for music, both in the community and at UUCGT. In the wider area, Bob was a renowned trumpet player. In addition to playing for the Traverse Symphony Orchestra for many years and for other community ensembles, he also offered music lessons to countless students and enjoyed sharing music with others.

In our Congregation, Bob was instrumental in our music program. Offering concerts, performing in services, singing in the Vocal Ensemble, and lending his help to the Music Committee, Bob always found a way to bring joy to others.

Bob cared also for social justice and making this world a more fair and just place. Always willing to help out, Bob brought both warmth and spirit to his service. He was a good man.

The family and I are still discussing arrangements for a Memorial Service to honor Bob's life. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to make donations to UUCGT's Music Program, which Bob cared for greatly.
