A Note from the Director

Dear families,

Each year, Ivymount celebrates the joy of reading by organizing lessons and activities in honor of Read Across America, which the National Education Association created to encourage students of all ages to read more. We look forward to a month of displays, videos, and books. Happy reading!

We hope you plan to attend our Outreach Resource Fair on Sunday, March 19. Scroll down to see the titles of presentations that our staff will lead. That's in addition to the many exhibitors from around the region who will be here to share information about their services.

Have a lovely evening.

Sincerely,

Susan Holt

Read Across America Highlights Diverse Books

The start of March means we're celebrating Read Across America this month. The theme this year is "We Need Diverse Books." To honor the theme, our media services team has curated an extensive display of books featuring characters and stories of all backgrounds, identities, and experiences. Throughout the month, they will also be hosting "Book Tastings" in the library for classes to sample the wide variety of diverse books, as well as "Books on the Big Screen," which will include a showing of Hidden Figures to celebrate the women who played an important role in the history of the space race.

Ready for Their Close-up!

The Class of 2023 had graduation photos taken on Friday - another step in their journey to graduating from Ivymount School. See above for photos of a few of our upcoming grads. Congratulations to all the future grads on reaching this milestone!

Student-Led Drive for Pets Halfway to Goal

Calling on cat and dog lovers to make a difference by supporting a student-led donation drive. We are collecting items to give to the Lost Dog and Cat Rescue Foundation, which helps animals find loving homes. We’re trying to get 160 items and we’re halfway there! You can continue donating through March 10th. Donation boxes are located in the lobby and at the top of the second-floor stairs. You can donate puppy and dog toys, kitten and cat toys, and dog and cat food. We ask that you don't donate open food.
