FALCON FAMILY REMINDERS:

St. Francis Xavier students will participate in the Scripps National Spelling Bee for grades 4-8 on Thursday, January 26 at 1:50 in the gym. Parents are welcome to attend. Each homeroom held a classroom bee to determine the grade-level students (2 winners from each room) who will advance to the all-school bee. The following students are the classroom winners! Congratulations!

These students will compete at the school-wide bee. The winner will advance to the regional competition in March. Additionally, the top 5 winners of the school-wide bee are invited to participate in the Knights of Columbus Spelling Bee hosted at St. Francis on February 4th. More details to come.

SINCE THE LAST NEWSLETTER....

Before break, 7th Grade students had a great time going to Drury Lane to see A Christmas Carol!

Before students left for Christmas break, the entire school community participated in a lovely and reverent Advent candlelight prayer service. It was a most special way to begin the celebration of Jesus' birth.

On the Wednesday after Christmas, the SFX School Advisory Board hosted an Alumni event for Falcon Alumni from the classes of 2015 and 2018 at Lucca's in LaGrange. It was a great way to catch up with old Falcon friends between holidays!

8th GRADE FORTNIGHTLY DANCES - The Tradition Continues at SFX!

For families with younger children who may not be familiar with the tradition of 8th Grade Fortnightly Dances at SFX, it is a decades long tradition at St. Francis Xavier and other schools in the Western suburbs. The goal of Fortnightly is to use dance to help participants feel comfortable and confident as they get ready to begin high school. 8th grade participants show growth in social awareness, self-confidence, self-esteem, teamwork and consideration and kindness of others during the sessions. As a reminder for 8th grade parents, the calendar is as follows:

1/22 Ballroom Style Dance 6:30pm - 8pm

1/29 Ballroom Style Dance 6:30pm - 8pm

2/5 Latin Style Dance 6:30pm - 8pm

2/12 Disco Style Dance 6:30pm - 8pm

2/26 Country Style Dance 6:30pm - 8pm
