October 2, 2023

Thank you all for making our snack bar such a big success! We had plenty of everything and so much help to run it!

This week our meet will be on Sunday at Mt SAC in Walnut. We do not host this meet, so I will need to know who will be competing for sure by Tuesday! We have not been on this Iconic course since 2015 and we are so excited to return!

This race will be a bigger Invitational, much like the race at Central Park! All athletes are invited!! I will have to pre- register all athletes by tomorrow night. Today at practice I will have a sign-up sheet for your athletes to check YES or NO. I will also need this release form filled out USATF Waiver .

Our team will pay for all the entry fees, but the on time registration will close Tuesday night. If you would like to reply to this email that is good too. Please reply with either YES or NO. and your Childs name. If you miss the Tuesday deadline you can register your athlete at the meet before 9:00 am, but there will be a $10.00 charge. Storm will register and pay for all athletes that declare by Tuesday!

There will also be a $10.00 parking fee, please bring exact cash only. This is a very exciting meet and all the athletes will love the course!!

Some of our top athletes will be running as a Valley United Strider athlete at this meet. Please check with Coach Elaine if you are in the top 8 rankings!! Please see the flyer for the meet for more info, but remember I will register all Storm athletes, so you do not need to do anything except let us know if you will attend!

Please do not bring your dogs as they are not allowed on the college campus!

Coach Jeremy's Notes to the Team

Hey Parents and Athletes!

We are gearing up for an amazing finish to this season. I still can’t believe we only have 3 weeks left!

So let’s get down to business.

First, another great day of racing for the team at COC. I’m so proud of how you are all battling and really taking to hear the idea that YOU are the only one that can choose to push yourself to the max! It doesn’t matter where you finish in the race, it’s a matter of you looking yourself in the mirror and saying: YOU KICKED BUTT TODAY!

This time of season is always bitter sweet as we are running speed and fast to give you the best shot at an amazing finish, while at the same time I’m thinking “how are we already to this point”. I guess the bottom line is, let’s just enjoy it, every workout, every warm up with friends, every hard interval, and the 3 remaining races of the season.

For this week we will be running long again tonight. Followed by some tempo tomorrow night. I put in the workout to run based on how tired you are. But don’t let that slow you down. Push for at least the last half if you need to start off a little easier. Tempo and Fast Tempo runs give you the strength the go farther faster. Thursday we’ll be running a combo of fast hill repeats and then fast flat repeats. I love this workout because it really gets your body wondering what it going on! And this Sunday at MT. SAC you’ll be wondering the same thing.

Speaking of MT. SAC I am so excited for each of you to be able to run this course. A true gladiator course that will challenge you to conquer your competition. You will each enjoy this iconic course and let’s plan on sitting around the campfire afterwards recalling the glory of the battle! I looked back and we haven’t raced this course since 2015. Go here to check out the top storm and top conference times and then get after it to see how you will rank after the race! Cross Country 2015 Season – Runstorm.org

Reminders as we get to the end of the season:

  1. Watch out for snotty/runny nose friends and siblings. You don’t want to get sick now!
  2. Don’t drink after others, ever!
  3. Stay away from doing things that can break and arm or get you hurt. Unless you are Matty Basin and run with your cast anyway! 😊
  4. Eat healthy to keep that Ferrari engine purring the way it should.
  5. Keep pushing hard and keep smiling!

Ok, that’s it for now.

I’m still out of town but will be back to practice Thursday so thank you Coaches for leading and thank you athletes for working hard and being awesome!

Thank you,

Coach Jeremy

Sincerely,
