The AquaBraves competed in the Southwest Classic this past weekend and were well represented at Finals.
Saturday started off with the 400 Medley Relay made up of Arjun Velayutham, Nilel Ok, Logan Bass, and Aiden Ok swimming lights out in the B Final. Marina Oria, Arjun Velayutham, and Grace Yu also qualified in individual events, but the highlight of the night was Jason Zhao winning the 500 free!
Sunday was even more exciting! Jason Zhao won another long distance event, this time the 1650, swimming's version of the mile. Jason also swam a great 100 Breaststroke and Gabby Henz qualified for Finals in the 200 Butterfly, a grueling event. She swam through the pain though and lowered her personal best time!
Without a doubt, however, the highlight of the night Sunday, and weekend all together, was the Boys 200 Medley Relay which featured: Arjun Jason Zhao, Gibson Holmes and Jeffrey Wenker. They swam a remarkable 1:34.54. To put that into perspective, that is a school record by over a second and over a half second faster than the State Championship winning time from last year!
