December 2024 News

Final Coverage

Our dedicated volunteers have been lovingly accepting your donations since December 10, but the collection closes this Friday, December 20. If you have blankets to drop off in Carlisle, please visit the Santa House on the Square in Carlisle, PA, between 3:30 and 5:30 pm.

How can you help in the closing days of this year’s event?

  • On Thursday evening at 5:35 pm, we are doing a preliminary loading of the #memorialblanket U-Haul.
  • On Saturday, December 21, we will load the bus at 7:00 am at Create-a-Palooza and head to Philadelphia. If you’d like a seat on the bus, please reserve your spot!

If you’re available for either of these opportunities, DM us through our Facebook group with your phone number and email address, or use the "Contact Us" button below to email us.

Don’t miss the display!

The homemade blanket art installation at Independence National Historic Park will be open for viewing from 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm. We expect hundreds (maybe even thousands!) of handmade blankets to be on display, raising awareness about homelessness. After the display, the blankets will be distributed to people in need.

Holiday of Books

What could bring author Pat LaMarche back to her old radio stomping grounds? How about the 3rd Annual Bangor Authors Book Fair? Held at the Bangor Public Library, the event was a great success for Pat and the other 90+ authors who participated. The fair featured sessions on food writing, horror writing, children's book publishing, poetry readings, children's book readings, UFOs over Maine, and author presentations.

If you're interested in purchasing one of the many books Pat had available, you can use the link below to order her latest book, Humble Pie. Want to learn more about it? Click the "Chef Archie YouTube Link" button below to hear a review of the book by the celebrity UK chef.

Reporting to Duty Early

We’re highlighting an event far in advance of its February 21st launch because it’s in Indianapolis, and we want to give you plenty of time to make travel arrangements.

Marc Leeds, author of The Vonnegut Encyclopedia, will be sharing his first Charles Bruce Foundation publication. We’ve featured The Doody Story in the newsletter before, but a book signing, birthday celebration, Kurt Vonnegut Museum and Library visit—this story was too important to pass up!

If you want a signed copy of Marc's book, start planning your trip now for February 21st. If you’d rather just enjoy an educational potty ecology children’s story with plenty of dad jokes, use the link below to secure your own copy.
